god people really hate the pens on this board it's actually pretty funny. simmonds sucks, he touched the puck, and malkin delivered a tucked arm into simmonds' head WHICH WAS DOWN.

I am laughing at the people saying this is clean. Did anyone not see the elbow hit him in the head? If this was a lesser player it would be an outcry on HF boards. Not suspension worthy but definitely a elbow.

That looks like a good hit to me. However, perhaps there are some other angles of this that need to be examined before making a complete judgement

Whether it was clean or not is irrelevant. Absolutely unnecessary on Malkin's part. It looked like he planned it the whole time he was going after the puck. You don't do that with the lead at the end of the game. Suspension worthy? Who knows. Piece of **** move? Yes.

Hit to the head. Other leagues protect their players...so should the NHL. It was marginal, but going to the head should be penalized IMO. It will likely be overlooked. 1 game max...

I wouldn't suspend him because it isn't against the rules, but if I were the Kings, I'd of sent someone out there to hurt Malkin enough so he wouldn't do that again.
14 seconds left, they wouldn't have had a chance.

Although, to people who say 14 seconds left, ask Shane Willis what happens when you don't play to the whistle.

all players that skate towards the puck with their heads down are therefore deemed unhittable!

If cheap means legal then yeah it was cheap. I didn't hear a whistle or a buzzer, as long as the game's going on keep your head up jeez.

Malkin's elbow doesn't fly out until after the impact separated him and Simmonds.

His elbow stayed completely down the whole time.

It was an elbow, but it was only an elbow because Simmonds ran his head into Malkin's funny bone..

His freaking arm was tucked against his side. He didn't even extend it. Guy should have kept his head up. Not to mention that the hit wasn't even hard.

Because everyone just loves to bash the Penguin players while Ovechkin has been getting away with cheap shots for far longer. Now Malkin does something that's questionable at best. It's not even a blatant cheap shot and a thread is made in two seconds. Tell me that isn't bias.

No, it wasn't.

It wasn't a blatant elbow, either. The only problem is that it was a high hit, but Simmonds had his head down. Doubt that there will be any suspension.

Meh, nothing wrong with it, and it's absolutely not an elbow.

I hate Malkin (and any pen for that matter) as much as the next guy but no way is that an elbow... His arm was fully tucked into his body. He hit him with his bicep/shoulder.

Some people just love to hate...

Hockey is a rough game kids. If you don't like physical play, then you should go watch figure skating or something.

Malkin plays the game hard and he'll catch you if your head is down. This is exactly what happened. Simmons wasn't paying attention and Malkin made him pay the price.

Whether there is 10 seconds left or 10 minutes left in the game, Geno Malkin is still gonna play the game hard. Gimme a break guys..

Cheap move when you consider the score, but no elbow.

I think they call that the Cold Shoulder.

The NFL is much rougher "son" and violent and they penalize for blows to the head. It's called common sense to protect your players.

If by bias you mean that people like Ovie better than Malkin than yes, there is bias. Why do you care? Do you need validation from fans of other teams that badly?

That was not an elbow, the part that hit Simmons head was just above the elbow, thus not an elbow. It was close, but it was shoulder. You can't argue it was an elbow, only that it was close to an elbow or you are just looking for trouble.
