I like Kassian but I think we're going to be drafting too early to take a flyer on him. Now don't lynch me, but I honestly think that Buffalo is going to take Ellis with their number 1 pick, at which time I will probably need to invest in a new plasma.

I have a suspicion Kassian may even be gone when they get around to making their pick. Size with attitude and even a bit of skill is going for a premium again, he's got all of that.

Hell with the NHL draft anything is possible. I just think that there's too many higher talent forwards available so Kassian will end up in the mid teens. Besides, the only way he'd be on Buffalo's radar is if Darcy is long gone, otherwise its Ellis for sure.

Eh, he did pick Stafford and Adam, so anything is possible. Not likely, but not completely outside the realm of possibility.

Stafford was never touted as a banger...skilled, soft hands etc so he thought Taylor Pyatt and you can never have enough Kate Spades in the locker room while he mistook Adam for Atom; as in a child dominating a no check league and figured with the new NHL he might as well lock them up early.
I haven't really started reading up on the draft until now. Kassian intrigues me. Would he be considered a 'safe' pick?
Depends on your definition of safe...he's a safe pick in that his skillset is diverse enough that he could fill a 3rd/4th line role while his upside could see him as a 20g/25a player on a 2nd line. Think Stafford without the great wheels but willing to enter the corners with some bad intent. He's kind of similar to Brad May in that he was skilled and fast enough to keep up with Mogilny and LaFontaine but wasn't going to ever be a true number 1 winger.

That is more or less exactly what I would define as safe. I do like the sounds of him though if they are picking in the 13-14 range.
