he faked going for the puck so that it wouldnt be interference with the full intention of plowing the guy. it's not against the rules but it was a completely unnecessary dick move that did absolutely nothing positive.

positive = opposing players have to worry that they cant be taking liberties on malkin without some retailiation

positive= got his head up to see a king that was possiblly coming at him.

positive = realizing the situation of the game (4-1...14 secs left) allowed him to not "just go for puck posession

negative = check thrown resulted to a hit in the head

or maybe opposing players will actually respect him less, because he waited until there were 14 seconds left in a game that was already handily won to "retailiate". sorry, but your logic makes no sense. what he did doesnt intimidate opposing players, it makes them think he's a coward.

that was not a result of his decision to fake for the puck and then steamroll someone who as obviously vulnerable and actually going for the puck.

if you read the whole thread, you'd see every reason why he would think that simmonds could have been going for the check there.

when ivanas is even "respecting" you by taking a run at you... who do yopu need respect from then...make your own respect i say

.. can you tell me (obviously , as a professional hockey player that you are) when a NHL player should realize another player is going to go for the puck or instead come at him and check him (like the kings were doing all game).

you see this type of play all the time when a puck is loose going toward the boards and the player goes to hit the other player for position

i realize you're probably better than malkin and can see it quicker than him, so how much time should it take on the average?
