The D needs to extra physical on Gaborik tonight. Not so much to hurt him but to make him work harder along the boards and expel energy as he is still getting back into shape. The more he works the less time he can spend on the ice.
Pay special attention to Gaborik tonight. One thing the Rangers have a knack for doing under Tortorella, is to let a forward linger at the blueline for breakaways.
Gaborik is notorious for this.. if Redden is in his normal give-away ********* mode, I can see Gaborik netting at least one goal by hanging out around the blue-line and separating from Redden and company.
Otherwise, you'd have to think the Rangers could find a way to beat a team fighting for their lives with Koivu and Burns out.
Avery Gomez Callahan is sometimes pretty good together, but they are really only good on the break. If teams are good in transition, and they have to create offense when already inside the blueline, they just aren't as good without Zherdev there.
