a hundred points would be a moral victory. knock on wood, but we're pretty well positioned to start thinking of holding the number four slot...

god, i'd love to smack around the pens in the first round

I'm keeping track in this thread:

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=619018

100 points are required to clinch at the moment.

i'm not worried but it seems like a cake walk into the playoffs. hopefully some of those teams will have the nothing to lose attitude and make the caps start second guessing themselves.

Realistically, 94-95 should probably be enough to guarantee a spot and 100-101 to keep the 4 spot.

Assuming Florida (9th seed) wins their remaining 9 games, they'll finish with 99 points. So I'd say with our 90 points, the magic number is 10 points.

Since the lockout, the 8th seed has had 92, 92 and 94 points. So really the Flyers need 2-4 more points to make the playoffs. To officially clinch, the Flyers need 10 points (2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 2 points for every Panthers loss).

I think we only need 9 more. We'd finish ahead of Florida on wins if it was a tie right?

If Florida wins out and the Flyers only acquire nine more points, there are still combinations that would put Florida ahead based on wins.

The Flyers need 10 more points to officially clinch at the moment.

Not to make the playoffs. For every win 2 points comes off the magic number. For every Florida loss 2 points also come off the magic number. Any combination of Philly wins and Florida losses that add up to 10 points means the Flyers will finish ahead.

Never thought I'd be saying this:

GO BUFFALO!

We can also help increase the lead with a win Thursday.
