We need this win. The Canes are right behind us in points.

Florida did take a tough loss last night and our boys should be well rested and practiced. It's hockey, we won't know until after 7p.

While I always want to see this team win, let's not forget that the canes are four games ahead of us.

The Canes only have 6 games left. We're in really good shape.

Wow, the fans in the Florida GDT sound completely deflated. The Panthers are only two points behind Montreal. If the players are carrying the same attitude as the fans, a win tonight could break them.

Does it sound greedy when I say I want at least 5 points out of the next 3 games?

You should never want less than 100% of the points available. So, no.

nope we need to win every game going into the playoffs to keep the confidence up and the momentum going. we need to be hot going in to the playoffs this year to keep that ball rolling.

I wonder if Jacques Martin loses his job if they don't make it. From everything I was hearing/reading/seeing, he kept JBo for a playoff run.
Even if it were to have only been 1 round...that's revenue lost. I can't but to help but to think his asking price goes down tenfold at the
draft, barring that team (and JBo wants to...) can get him under contract.

True. They kept J-bo for a playoff run. If they miss the playoffs, I see them losing J-bo for less then what they could have gotten for him at the deadline.

They will likely get nothing for Bouwmeester. No team will trade for him unless they know they can sign him. I doubt there will be a bidding war for Bouwmeester in the off-season because, as of July 1st, he can choose where he wants to play.

Martin took a huge chance keeping him around. Unfortunately for Martin, the Panthers were moving along pretty well near the trade deadline, so he didn't want to mess with the chemistry in the room. I can definitely see him getting the axe if the Panthers miss the playoffs.

Martin was caught between a rock and hard place. J-Bo hasn't done a whole lot of late and will likely walk, leaving Martin with nothing. I'd love to see the Panthers get in ahead of the Habs but they're going to have to play desperate. And I don't want them to start playing well tonight!!

You might see a Mats Sundin (Montreal) kinda offer. Which, in the grand schemes of things...is NOTHING. I don't blame Martin for keeping him, he had good intentions...and they desperately need(ed) the payoff revenue. However, that's a big ticket player to let walk with little to no return.

LETS GO FLYERS.
I hope some of the players are wearing the wigs during warmups.
If anyone is going try and get pics if they are.
Anywho, I am expecting the cats to come out blazing...so shut 'em down early.

It was a high risk, high reward scenario. It's possible that Martin could have made a deadline deal that helped vault the Panthers into the playoffs; he chose to keep Bouwmeester instead, which could also help vault the Panthers into the playoffs.

The problem for Martin's job secuirty, though, is that, had he made the trade, there would have been guaranteed assets on the Panthers July 1st. He had to have known that Bouwmeester (likely) wasn't coming back, but he decided that keeping him for the rest of the year gave them a better chance at that playoff revenue.

There's a fine line between a genious GM and a TSN analyst.

Can't wait to get my Scott Hartnell wig. I should be studying for a Chemistry mid-term, but too bad. Come out, play a full 60 minutes, and we win.
