Emelin: bad news.

Just read that his injuries (due to a fight) are very severe. The bone beneath his eye is fractured, which might cause his eye to "pop out".. in clear, he might lose his eye.

http://www.gazeta.ru/news/sport/2009..._1345909.shtml

Here's the babel fish translation:

Quote:
Defender “[Ak] of panther” Aleksey [Emelin] under no circumstances will not be able to play in this drawing of Gagarin's goblet , reports sports.ru. Version with the face shield even is not examined, since the injury Of [emelina] proved to be still more serious than it was assumed. It already communicated that the facial bone was broken. But it was explained that there is a danger of the retraction of eye. Therefore in the course of operation to hockey player by plate they strengthened the cracked eye socket

Yet another reason he should have listened to Timmins and signed with the Habs instead of staying over there.

I remember hearing a fan in a minor hockey rink saying to her son: "mords-y un oeil". Svitov probably took the comment personally.

True but the refs could have done a better job.. though the dammage was probably done before they could intervene.

I remember Alex Kovalev in an interview saying he would never play in Russia again because of the pathetic refereeing.

This was not a normal fight. The other player was suspended because he kept pounding Emelin (who had his gloves on. This would have never happened in the NHL.

Here's the video:

So they send a guy out in a white coat and carry a seriously injured player off in a gunny sack...wow. Not sure that league has learnt its lesson.

Who would make a music video out of this?

Seems like he was headed for the morgue too.. what an amateurish barbaric league.

unfortunately i don't see any part of that fight where an NHL ref would have jumped in there any quicker. No league could have stopped that injury.

Simple case of a player losing absolute control. There aren't too many referees who could've prevented that situation.

Blame this inury on cheap *** Svitov....not the refs.

Haha, in Russia they think same about NHL.)))

Emelins injury is most likely overblown. Regardless, Emelin is a dirty player that was asking for it(the beating, not the injury).
