Edmonton wants another 1st

What could we get for Visnovsky in this years draft. Would it net us a 6th to 10th pick.

Doesn't Visnovsky have a NMC? Is he willing to waive it after only being in Edmonton for a year?

No we don't.. we have enough prospects, why would we give away Visnovsky to get ANOTHER.. if anything were looking to make a move involving our 1st to get better for next season.

Burke trades Toronto's 1st round pick for Dustin Penner.

Visnovsky has a NMC in his contract, that is why L.A. traded him away because it was about to kick in when he was traded to Edmonton. And didn't Lowe or Tambellini say that they were going to honour the clause by not trading him?

I think that's only rockinghockey.. Visnovsky (along with Hemsky) has been our 2nd best player this year behind Roloson IMO.

That's pretty much exactly what I was going to say, the Oilers already have more players than space right now, they don't need more prospect in the system.

why would we want to trade him anyway?
we have decent young players in Cogs, Gagner and we have guys coming up a la Petry and Chorney, we don't need another first rounder

Dumb proposal.

Visnovsky is staying, he is one of the better Oilers this year and prospects is something we don't need.

More proof you should have need to have 500 posts before you can start a thread.

Anyways, no we don't want to trade Visnovsky.

If Edmonton really thinks that they have a legit chance of signing Bouwmeester we are going to have to free up cap space. Vis is a lefit top two pairing dman but if we sign Bou we cant keep both of them. This is all that I am thinking.

If Vish really could return a first in a strong draft, I'm assuming Lombardi would have moved him for that price at least year's draft.

He had a nice season, but I don't think his market value is in that league right now.

Exactly. People don't seem to get that the impending doom and gloom of the salary cap means a strong reduction of value for players with long, high paying, contracts.

I dont know why you guys think we wont try and trade Visno? If rumblings are true about Bouwmeister then I would have to say Vis would be the odd man out. He could fetch us nice return up front.

Only if we could package horcoff with Vis for a better center. Its too bad Horcoff has negative trade value now.

Vishnovsky is our best defenceman, how can we get rid of him? if we need to clear cap space get rid of Gilbert first before anyone.

Visnovsky has a NMC, there are other ways to clear cap space to bring in Bouwmeester.

Something like not resigning Grebeshkov (either trade or RFA compensation), not resigning Smid (either trade or RFA), not bringing back Ales Kotalik (UFA), Jason Strudwick (UFA), Roloson (UFA). The Oilers could also not offer Schremp, Brodziak, Brule and all the other AHL players contracts that won't have a significant role with the Oilers.

I am sure that Souray would waive his NTC, to be closer to his daughter in California (Anaheim, San Jose or L.A.).

The Oilers could also try and dump some salary already tied up in the likes of Penner, Pisani, Moreau, Staios. Yes they don't have much value, but it is worth a shot.

Personally, I don't think that Bouwmeester will be signing in Edmonton so no need for drastic measures to get the cap room for him.

as far as i know the NMC is something we don't have to honor... It's our choice, and I don't know if we chose to.

Well, wouldn't anyone?

By the way E-Town is talked about on these boards, it's a miracle they even have a hockey team in the first place or something. Don't see any players desperately clinging to play there and not be moved.

And FTR, Visnovsky is Edmonton's best defenseman. Don't let the little-to-no PK time fool you, that's just retarded MacT coaching, for real. He is a stud on the back end and was nothing short of fantastic for the Oilers up until his injury. Fit in real well with the team, and is the straw that stirs the drink. Key to everything there and they're really missin' him.

Absolutely no point in trading him for even a mid to high level 1st round pick.

Lowe or Tambellini said that they were going to honour it so Visnovsky does have the NMC.

You should talk about your own terrible city before you comment on others.

Says someone in Windsor?!

I don't see Edmonton trading Vis for a pick this year, unless it's a top-2 pick. (edit - which obviously won't happen)

Windsor sucks.

I used to live in Philadelphia, and have visited Edmonton quite a few times, and I can easily tell you which city I'd prefer living in. Unless you enjoy idiotic sports fans, a terrible crime rate, poverty-stricken neighbourhoods and very rude citizens, Edmonton would be your desired destination.
