No chance. Flyers are 4 pts up with 2 games in hand and their schedule is cake compared to the Rangers. Rangers (2), Isles (2), Panthers (2), Leafs (2), Bruins and Sens (3 of 10 vs. playoff teams) as opposed to the Rangers schedule Thrashers, Pens, Devils, Canes, Bruins, Habs, Flyers (2)(7 of 8 vs. playoff teams, 6 are above them in the standings). Tonight is the only non-playoff team between now and the end of the season so they need to grab these two "easy" points.
Ahh, didn't realize the Flyers had clinched a spot ahead of us already.
If you are telling me that this team cannot play .500 hockey the rest of the way to make the playoffs then it is really bad. Something is wrong here. Their odds where much worse at the beginning of March.
It is way too soon. Montreal is now only 1 point behind us (with a game in hand) since they're gonna win tonight, and Florida only 2 points behind us as they're also gonna win tonight. Granted we are only 3 points out of the #4 spot, but we have some very tough games left. Carolina, Boston, Montreal and a Home-and-Home with Philly...oh boy.
Here is what Florida has: ATL, PITT, PHI, ATL, WSH
Here is what Montreal has: NYI, TOR, OTT, Us, BOS, PITT
Here is what Pittsburgh has: NJD, CAR, FLA, TB, NYI, MON
Here is what Carolina has: Us, PITT, NYI, BUF, NJD
We have a lot of the teams close to us playing one another. Because of this, we absolutely NEED these games to end in regulation. If all of these games go to OT and each team gets at least a point, that could be very bad. Obviously, we control our own destiny so that in itself is a big positive, but it is way, way, way too early, with too many variables to be so sure yet.
