Conroy Flames' nominee for Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy

It was announced on the Fan 960 and this morning in the Calgary Herald. Congrats to Conroy.

And here's another feel-good article about the man himself, on this fine friday morning.

http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/...237/story.html

Quote:
Fans worth more than finances, says Conroy
Flames' Masterton nominee doesn't regret pay cut

Conroy recalls the reception he got when he returned to the Flames --Jamie Lundmark and picks were dealt to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for the veteran pivot--and made his re-debut Jan. 30, 2007, at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

"That made me never want to leave again," says Conroy, who scored twice that memorable night. "The way the crowd responded, stuff like that -- those are big things that I remember that no one else might even think about ... but when you're making decisions, that came back into my mind."
Quote:
"I enjoy it here," says Conroy. "I like Mike (Keenan), the coaching staff, Darryl (Sutter), Ken King, all the owners. That's nice. That's what I like about Calgary. And I love the fans. Anywhere I go in the city, they make me feel special. That's part of it, too. It's fun."

Conroy truly loves this team.

Good for him.

Nominating Bertuzzi probably wouldn't have been the best public-relations move, although he probably deserves it.

Conroy, though, is an excellent choice.

I hope Sutter keeps him around until he is ready to retire then he joins the team as a broadcaster or or joins the coaching ranks[

I think Adrian Aucoin wold be an excellent choice as well... not long ago he was seen as a waste and injury prone... and they was traded for our garbage (Zyuzin)... now he is playing on the top shutdown pairing and looks like he has a few years left in the tank

Steve Sullivan deserves the Masterson more than Conny

that's nice but Sullivan is not a Calgary Flame... Conroy is the Flames nominee... Sullivan is the Predator's nominee I would assume

Burrows got the Canucks nom.

Wonder who wins

My guess: Simon Ganger given how well he has came back from a concussion.

What's the point of this thread if we can't discuss potential winners?

Don't be an idiot homer

If you read the first post in the thread you will glean the point.
