This is regardless of what else happens. Win and we're in.
OT win would be enough. OT loss would mean the Rangers have to win their last 2 games to tie us and get through via the tie-breaker (wins).

Happy Thoughts & Simple Facts

Well, as dire as life seems right now, here is the simple fact.

If Montreal beats the Rangers tomorrow night in regulation or OT, they've clinched a playoff spot.

This is regardless of what else happens. Win and we're in.

EDITED: Now that we know the OTW scenario.

Take it from a sens fan, don't go in with that mentality... Look up Paddock and see how that worked out for us..

It's head-to-head. Just checked. It's "points earned," the season series is Montreal 2-0-1. We have 5 points, they have 2. Thus, an OT win guarantees us the playoffs.

PS. PLEASE FIX THE FORUMS this out of order time stamping stuff is absurd.

Well, to me, that's the best mentality to take. Complete control of own destiny. We don't have to care about what anyone else is doing.

but if we lose in OT, lose the rest of our games and the Rags win all their games they'd have more wins than us, so an OT loss does not clinch, an OT win does

edit: you edited your post as I was typing....

I can't believe you guys are not confident enough in this team to win one of the next three games. Honestly, it's ridiculous. The whole rationale for not building your team around a superstar is that the team can adjust. They'll probably win two games, maybe three to spite you all.

Why make it so complicated?

Win tonight (OT or regulation) = Clinch
Lose tonight = Not Clinch

Even if you want to show how we're going to lose all our games if we lose tomorrow, there is still the possibility that we make it through the back door.

Everytime our team entered the playoff, I always have hope even though they are not good enough to win the Cup. This time, it feels different. It`s like we make the playoff for nothing. I don`t want my team becoming like punching bag like the Sens last year. It`s like we are going to war without our general and you know in advance that the war was already lost. It`s a weird feeling.

I didn't say anything about lack of confidence. I'm just pointing out that we entirely control our destiny tomorrow.

Theoretically, if we lose tomorrow, we could still win one of the last two and miss the playoffs.

It's not just if we win a game, but which one.

No looking past a game The last two are irrelevant. Win tomorrow in any way and it's clinched.

Markov, Schneider, Andrei, Sergei, Bouillon, Lang ... it's not like there's one player missing.
