I do not think the Rays will make the playoffs. It would just be too simple. They kind of need that year to rediscover themselves). The Rockies got crippled with injuries though.

Not saying the Rays CAN'T make the playoffs, it's just that...well someone in that division has to be 3rd...They had no pressure on them last year, now there will be some
Do you actually follow the AL East, or are you just making random authoritative statements? It seems like people keep making these statements who didn't watch the games last year...The Rays are not an anomaly. I don't want them to win, but I see reality.

And the Yankees are horribly overrated just because they threw hojillions of dollars around on three guys. Guess what, there's still 22 other guys to fill out that roster, and wow do some of them suck on that team. The Rays have a better rotation, better lineup (not as much name recognition, but top to bottom it's better), and a far better bullpen, especially if they recall Price and put him in the pen. And I think they've got a great manager for taking care of the pressure component.

As for the Yankees, they've got 2 guys in the pen who are good, and one is near 40, the other a rookie who's had his issues with overworking in the past. Their outfield has loads of issues with age and injury concerns, as well as guys who aren't living up to their potential. They've got a good/great infield, once A-Rod comes back, and as long as 1. Age doesn't start to catch up to Jeter and 2. Cano has a strong year. That doesn't even address their catching situation, or the fact that they've got big money riding on a starting pitcher who hasn't shown he can stay healthy (Hi AJ!), as well as depth issues in the rotation. Oh, and they play in the strongest division in MLB. Yup, they should win easily. I see no problems in Yankee-land.

Blue Jays fans are worse than Phillies fans:

Blue Jays beat the Detroit Tigers 12-5 Monday night in a game that was briefly delayed when fans began throwing baseballs and trash on the field.

Crew chief Ed Montague waved both teams into the dugout for nine minutes in the bottom of the eighth inning after two balls were thrown from the stands in the direction of Anderson, the Tigers’ left fielder.

“Both of them were pretty close,” Anderson said. “If it hits you in the head, it could do some damage. After the second one I said, ‘That’s enough.”’

Groundskeepers cleared a handful of paper airplanes and empty beer cups from the warning track as the public address announcer read a message warning the crowd of 48,027 that the game could be forfeited.

I can see ESPN spinning that into this:

Blue Jays fans are almost as bad as Philly fans

-Baseball officials had to delay a game since rowdy fans threw stuff at players during the 8th inning. This incident was almost as bad as when Philly fans threw snowballs at Santa. Luckily, it wasnt as bad and we all know that Philly fans are evil. In other news, Denver fan threatens to kill Broncos GM after trading star QB, but even this threat is still not as bad as throwing something at SANTA. Do they have no shame? He is ****ing Santa afterall. Luckily they got Cole in their stocking and it turned into a good thing. Too bad it was a fluke. Mets will win WS this year.

Look at the Rays roster...and look at the rosters of the teams you just listed.

Certainly they might end up 3rd, it's a ridiculously hard division to win...but to just flat dismiss them is idiotic. And to act as if those that picked them are doing something stupid is idiotic. They won that division last year, and it was on merit...not luck.

Look at the bright side. At least we are getting our slump out of the way earlier than later.

Phenomenal start. At least we know the bullpen is okay without JC.

Haha I'd be more worried about the starters at this point, they were the question mark coming in and they haven't done well.

I also wouldn't expect more than 20 starts out of Hamels.

2nd lowest run production after 2 games for a defending champion in the majors since like 1915.

Then don't expect the playoffs. Or even coming close.

Well, it's good to know you all freak out with the Phillies too. It somewhat makes me feel a little better.

You guys are a funny bunch.

Relax folks, the season is two games old.

All Philly fans are like that in every sport.

I think for the most part Phillies fans aren't really freaking out yet, at least from the sense I got from being in town last night. However it still is pathetic that the defending World Champions can't hit the ball. Id say the same no matter what team.
