Overall, this roster has too little 90-91 players IMO.
How many 82-83 players played in the 2006 olympics?

I checked that. The answer is one. Henrik Lundqvist.

I'd wager that the ratio will be about the same in that age group in 2014.

With most swedish coaches, absolutely. It's an attitude that is wellspread in every swedish sport where they have some kind of depth...

Are you serious?

82-83 might be the worst classes ever for Sweden. Who was gonna play? Joel Lundqvist? Sjostrom? Maybe Fabricius?

I doubt there will be many 82-83 players at Vancouver Olympics aswell. So what?

a)BEG will not be a head coach in 2014.
b)Where is all this BEG is anti-youngsters bs is coming from? Maybe you can name me a player that was not selected by BEG because of his young age?

Without doing much research on it, I'd say this is not just in Sweden. I don't think we ever see any of the "big 7" come to the big tournaments with too many 22-23 year olds. I could of course be mistaken.

Sweden shows the same attitude in smaller tournaments as well.

The difference in 2014 is that some of the young guys mentioned could be top players in the NHL.

I thought we were discussing the OGs in 2014. Will that be considered a big tournament?

Mark my words, in 2018 we will win the Olympics.

I'll dig this nine year old post out after the final

Nobody mentioning Flames prospect Mikal Backlund? Guy has lots of potential, and i I am not wrong, he has always been though of (or recently) as a better player than Moller

Sweden have good depth at centre, so Backlund isn't really a candidate unless he develops a lot faster then expected.

Goalies:
Lundqvist
Markström
Enroth

Lundqvist will still be a star goalie in 2014 and Markström will probably have established himself as a number one goalie. Enroth, Larsson, and Gustavsson will compete for the third spot.

Defensemen:
Kronwall - Hedman
Hjalmarsson - Karlsson
Edler - Enström
Rundblad

Hedman will be a superstar defensemen in 2014 and Erik Karlsson will probably be a top-4 d.

Forwards:
Zetterberg - Bäckström - Eriksson
MSP - Backlund - Berglund
Sedin - Sedin - Möller
Sjöström - Lundqvist - Pettersson
Tedenby

I'm a little bit unsure at how good the Sedins will be in '14, but I reckon they'll still be good enough to make the team. Fourth line will be an energi/defensive line. I was impressed by Fredrik Pettersson in Frölunda last year, I think he'll be a good fit in an energyline.
