NSH - TOR draft day

What do you think of.....

To NSH:
Alexei Ponikarovsky

To TOR:
Jordin Tootoo
4th Round 2009

-Nashville gets a top 6 forward to help with scoring, and Toronto gets a late pick and a blue-collar grinder for Burke's future bottom 6 forwards.

Toronto wouldn't do this. Nashville probably wouldn't be excited about trading a fan favorite in an emerging market.

As a leaf fan i wouldn't do it. The Poni-Grabovski-Kulemin line has been clicking, and it would be a good first line going into next season where we probably won't finish any higher than we are now.

Besides, Ponikarovsky's 1st in +/-, 2nd in pts, 2nd in goals on our team, and only making 2 mil. Why would we trade him for an enforcer and a late pick?

There's apparently never enough going to Toronto.

A late round pick and an enforcer doesn't = a 60 pt, 20+ goal, 6'4" player who's a big part of this team.

Sorry, you can take your Maple Leaf hate elsewhere

Ponikarovsky is a good hockey player, and he's still fairly young. He's really emerged in the second half of the year, and he's a bit of a leader on the team. This really isn't enough for Poni.

Precisely what I was thinking... he has really helped to get Grabovski and Kulemin going.

The anti Toronto bias is really getting a bit ridiculous on this board. I mean, does anyone even look at statistics anymore?

To NSH:
Alexei Ponikarovsky (23g, 60 pts, +5) Age:29

To TOR:
Jordin Tootoo (4 g, 16p, -14) Age:26
4th round 2009

We have far too many grinders as it is. If we deal our players, let's at least receive fair value back. I'd at least want a second.

Brutal deal for the Leafs; Tootoo's a useless punk.

I like Poni, but Tootoo provides many intangibles for Nashville. He is a fan favorite and brings people to their feet.

Pass.

Poni's pretty much Canadian. He's a citizen, and I think he's staying in NA for good.

Replace Tootoo with Suter and the 4th with a 1st and Toronto would be interested.

Well played

Switch Tootoo for Franson and you've got a deal.

On a serious note, since both Toronto and Nashville fans are viewing this.

Would something like Hamhius for Blake (with small parts added in) be of interest to both teams?

Why? Nashville gets a guy who'd bring comparable production to Dumont and they badly need help on offense, and Toronto gets a 26 year old defenseman who could become an integral part for the next 10 years or so.

Jason Blake has very little value because of his contract. It's just too long a deal right now for any team to take on, especially a small market team like Nashville.
