If the game is tied late, Minnesota will pull their goaltender for an extra attacker. They need a regulation win to stay in the race. I think it bodes well for the Preds if they can get themselves into at least this type of situation.
Beautiful shift by the top line, used the forecheck several times to keep the puck alive, then Sully finally gets a pass through, Arnott is able to knock it down and put a bouncing shot past Backstrom! 1-0 Preds!
32nd goal of the season for Arnott - NEW FRANCHISE RECORD!
Nichol gave up on the play after seeing the call was being made, then his teammates followed. Klein pinched to try to get the touch, but was beaten, then DeVries had no chance catching Fritsche on the breakaway. 1-1...
Pekka is attacking pucks, not absorbing them and is leaving rebounds because of that. He needs to settle down and play under control. Simplify his game.
We need to have a commitment from all four lines to chip the puck in deep and forecheck when they can't carry it through the neutral zone with speed. Too many neutral zone turnovers. Need to out Wild the Wild. Tighten up the defense, get pucks deep, use our forecheck to create turnovers, capitalize off those turnovers...
The intermission came at a great time. Allows us to go back into the locker room and regroup. 2nd periods have been a struggle for us, so need to tighten up, try to limit the ebbs and flows of momentum, and survive the second period at worst trailing by a goal.
