Some Canadiens fans, in Ontario, will be able to watch tonight's Montreal/Pittsburgh match. Right from the CBC site. Read carefully. Maybe subject to change?

Woohoo! CBC HD here in the Maritimes for the Habs game. Can't get RDS HD in the Maritimes, so I love it when CBC, TSN, or Sportsnet carry the Habs.

The Habs ARE a religion in Quebec.

And that's not counting all the bars that people saw the game in.

I'd be curious as to whether those stats for RDS include those outside of Quebec who have RDS. There is a huge amount of people outside Quebec who have RDS.

I live on Prince Edward Island and get RDS HD through Bell. Or do you mean locally? It's certainly available if you are willing to go the satellite route.

Technically I can.
Fact is I get CBC HD and RDS HD for free. TSN, on the other hand, Videotron is screwing me or something and they want me to pay 6 bucks a month. For that one channel.

to make your TV HD ready
take a duck tape (black preferably)
and cover the top and bottom of your TV

you're welcome

Enjoy great Horizontal picture.

Right, but if you go the digital cable route, there is no option for RDS HD. At least through NS and NB.

Those RDS numbers are based on BBM's ratings within the province of Quebec. Soley Quebec promgramming/viewing habits.

I did read (Globe & Mail) that RDS has 500,000+ subscribers outside of Quebec. One of them would be me. Via Cogeco digital cable.

I believe TV ratings take into account things like that.

You what will be funny tonight. As the HNIC coverage, on my initial post, indicates. The "Battle of Ontario" won't be available to all Ontarians.

Imagine being a hardcore Toronto or Ottawa living living somewhere else within Ontario and you discover the local CBC affiliate is carrying Montreal/Pittsburgh?

For once, they made the decision based on this game mattering and the other one not.

If I recall, CBC does have "flex" capability at the end of the year to re-arrange their schedule for matchups.

Sadly, for the CBC, it became a battle of matchups rather than the Habs playing for their season.

I'm joining the indignant Habs fan in Ottawa club. Isn't it punishment enough that the Senators couldn't make the playoffs?

Actually i think you mean to place the tape vertically down each side of the screen. Thats what happens when you watch standard def programming on a hd tv.

Hockey is awesome in hd! Everything is awesome in hd!

I figured as much. In my opinion the RDS stats should be expanded to include samplings outside Quebec, to be more accurate.
