seems like overpayment from the flyers. that's a lot of roster players dealt for a goaltender and the ever coveted 2nd round pick. montreal would have to throw something else in.

yeah, maybe a dman in return like O'Byrne. Someone who could compete for a top-6 spot next year

77-year-old Glenn Hall would be an upgrade to Biron right now...

I'd definitely like to work something out with Halak and Giroux being center pieces (not one for one)...

no....there is nothing else you have to offer that would make the Flyers want to move Giroux.

The only thing he would get moved for is a SURE thing young #1 goalie, and teams with those players wouldn't do that.

Never gonna happen. They won't trade anything for him unless its a partial salary dump, meaning Jones, Carle or Lupul + pick to equal it out. They also have other options that are just as good as Halak, prime example being Harding (Gutavsson who would cost nothing except money and capspace, big big gamble though I know).

A lot of teams would like Giroux. Unfortunately I'd say he's almost as untouchable as Carter and Richards.

Giroux isnt being moved for anything IMO besides a proven stud #1 goalie

If I'm not mistaken, Halak is still RFA after his contract expires? No reason to move him prematurely. We'll let him show you guys how "stud" he can be .

i won't say giroux is untouchable (it's a business, **** happens), but if giroux is dealt, you can be sure that halak won't be the centerpiece. their values are in no way close or even comparable.

Im just curious about what people think itd take to get him. I think the deal would have to start with Lupul, who the flyers are going to need to trade for cap space...but what else? Carle or Jones? A pick? Nitty? Im not sure what the habs needs are right now...so i just wanted to hear what others though on the matter.
If I was Montreal I would hang onto Halak. The guy is a gem. Definitely would not trade him for spare parts like Jones or Nitty or Carle.

Just don't see how that would be of interest to the Habs. Either way, I think Halak is staying.
