Yeah, you're right... that's the best way to cheer up for your team just before the start of the "real" season! I've never thought about it... so I'll remember to boo them when I'll go to the game... thanks for the smart advice...

If "usually" is last season then yes. But this year after *that* game they didn't really deserve it. Celebrations were premature last year, we'll cheer them when the season ends for year.

standing ovation is usually given when the team meets or exceeds expectations.

With all the distractions, inconsistent performances from primary players, and key injuries this year, the habs did not did not quite live up to the expectations, and the reaction from the crowd was quite appropriate imo.
