Offer Kovalev 2million max or kick his ass to the curb.

Our lines were pretty ridiculous.
Not sure Bob wanted to win this one...at least it was obvious he didn't want it badly.

Kostitsyn was flying in the 1st and disappeared completely after. I mean completely.

Laps line was, yet again, the most consistent. Lats was probably the best forward tonight IMO.

Kovy was good but he really goofed on the GWG. That was an ugly pass attempt. OUCH.

Laraque was pretty good.

And finally...it's way too easy to enter our defensive zone. Put some pressure on the puck handler in the center zone for God sake !

Kovalev cost us the game!

Kovalev pretty much summed up the engima he is during tonight's game. He really was all over the ice creating chances and was playing fairly well, then he inexplicably threw the puck towards a spot where no Canadien was on the PP, and off the Penguins goes.

Koivu was decent, had some chances on the powerplay. Lapierre line was quite good. Laraque had a very good game. Kostitsyn and Plekanec were out picking daisies somewhere.

Price kind of had the same syndrome. Completely out of this world and incredible for most of the game, really the reason 100% why it was 1-1...but he got rattled by the first SH goal caused by Kovalev's turnover (which Price had no chance on at all) and then gave up an extremely weak goal to Letang.

Gainey didn't seem to be bent out of shape over winning this one though. Started Metropolit with Kovalev, and Koivu out with Stewart and Laraque. Rested Tanguay. Canadiens started out fast asleep, I believe it was 10-0 in shots for Pittsburgh at one point in the first.

Blah, both the caps and the ruins will be equally tough to beat, although I have a hunch that Bob prefers Boston based on the decisions that he made for tonight.

But whatever, the season is the season and the playoffs are the playoffs. Eighth seed Boston took us to seven games last year so anything can happen.

A good sign from tonight: Looks like Price is ready to go. Aside from the obvious he played a great game.

I'm not worried. The Habs gotta throw a game once in a while on the orders of the local Russian Mafia or else Boris and his pals will stop buying the drinks.

Are you ****ing kidding me? people were taking this game seriously? and they still do after?

its so OBVIOUS Gainey wanted to face the bruins for **** sake you would have to be a complete ****** not to see it

Stewart-Koivu-Laraque, do i need to say more?

And maybe the players themselves wanted to face the bruins and not the Caps, you know they're not just little barbie dolls, the choice doesent belong to us for ''Which team you want to face in first'' they are the one playing the game and making the choices so stop commenting on everything that happened, specially tonight

I'm pretty sure they must have talked to each others or in the locker room about who they should/want to face in first round

They wanted to play the Ruins? BRING IT ON

but please dont act like ''ZOMG They ruined the season, they didnt play tonight and all the players were like invisible and stuff cause hey it was such an important game amirite?''

Thats when Gainey traded away Huet and stuck Price in net letting in floaters from all over the ice. Then same thing against Philly. Gainey made a big mistake trading away our starting goalie for an unproven youngster. Bob seems like an intelligent guy but I think in a hockey sense he's not that bright. Who in their right mind does something stupid like that. First in your division just before the playoffs and you send your starting goalie packing.

My line-up would be

Price
Halak

Schneider Komisarek
Hamrlik O'Byrne
Henry Dandenault

Tanguay Koivu Kovalev
Latendresse Lapierre A Kostitsyn
D'Agostini Plekanec Kostopoulos
Higgins Metropolit Stewart

Laraque on the bench but in the line-up

I add some scoring on the Lapierre line, I think adding some grit with Plekanec would add even more spice. And on D I make sure most of our guys have big size. Gorges has made tons of mistakes recently and in that respect I prefer a guy like Henry that is also average but can take care of himself. I think this would make us a more intimidating group, ready to go to war.

I still hate the fact nobody tries to fix the defense from backing up so damn much. They surrender the blueline so easily... why? Why no support? Why won't Bob fix it?

I'm pretty sure our record against the Bruins in 02 and 04 wasnt exactly beautiful either lol.

And if a team know regular season means nothing, it's most certainly this very habs team... they were 12-0 against Boston and Philly before going into the playoffs last year.

It means ABSOLUTLY nothing.

On another subject, how can people think it would have been less physical against the Capitals??????????? Less intensity, due to the rivalry against the Bruins, perhaps (but that's to our advantage if they ever play undisciplined hockey), but less physical? yeah right... Caps are strongers and faster up front than the Bruins are and without Markov to play 30 minutes a night against Ovechkin, i much prefer taking on the Bruins.

Gainey fired Carbo and in the past month instilled some structure and much better play from a team that was completely lost. Every player pretty well knows their role and he is getting the best he can from each of them. They are much better than they were one month ago. They have much more confidence then they have had all year. But he has no hockey sense according to you. Right, how many cups does he have?

Let's go all the way back to getting rid of Huet as the catalyst for our downfall. Huet is so much better in Chicago isn't he? For the money he's getting and with Halak right behind Price I would have done the same thing.

We may not have won some games going in, but I have to say I saw a lot of positives going into the playoffs. 10 positives I saw these past 2 weeks.

(1) Price looked great and seems to be back on top of his game.

(2) Komisarek looked like the Kommy we know and love, good physical play and playing his game which is a simple game of containing players, blocking shots and hitting players.

(3) Kovalev, Koivu and Tanguay are all hot going into the playoffs, especially Kovalev.

(4) A 2nd unit in Lapierre and Latendresse have given this team added scoring and great checking along with intensity that gets their team mates to follow.

(5) Halak played well and gives us security in net as well with Price.

(6) The team seem to gel and buy into Gainey's system and played a better game, especially defensively.

(7) Schneider came back and is playing with his heart on his sleeve, something that has made Komisarek and Hammer step up as well. A healthy Markov along with Gorges will give us a solid defense along with Dandy.

(8) Dandenault may have played his way into another contract with the Habs as a utility player because he has been nothing but spectacular both at forward and defense this past month.

(9) Metropolit, Lapierre and Koivu are winning more face-offs then they are losing.

(10) Players like Metropolit, Kostopolous, Weber, Stewart, Laraque and D'Agostini are playing decent hockey and aren't hurting this team, they are playing smart hockey and it is leading to opportunities for them and the team as well.

This team has imporved a lot and I think this isn't the same team Boston thinks it was a couple of weeks ago.

That last game against the Bruins was a great showcase of what this series maybe like and the Bruins and the Bruins fans are taking us lightly and are saying we are lucky and that we backed into these playoffs and don't deserve to be there.

Well I think this may go 7 and I think it may go in the favour for the Habs, I can't wait to see little Timmy Thomas's horseshoe fall out of his @$$ like it does to the goalie on the Niagara Falls Casino commercial.

The Bruins are scared, so are the fans....but they won't admit it or give us any credit because afterall this is the same team that was picked to be a Stanley Cup contender (Montreal) and it is a whole new season.

82 games are now done and mean nothing, the new season starts on Thursday and it is Game 1 for everyone then and in a best of 7 anything can happen.

GO HABS GO!!!
