The fans who insist on drafting from Québec in 2009 probably loved the selection of Chouinard in 1998.

Leblanc will most likely be gone by the 30th pick...

Werek or Kassian.

We need some players who have some range. Get out of here with Leblanc.

Ok; instead of taking a bad player from the Q, or a bad player from anywhere else in the world, they will take the BPA.

I assume those 2 were the BPA when taken. If not, then no, I doubt anyone loved those choices.

P.S : BPA doesn't mean he will be great; it's just less of a risk.

Well with Leblanc it's different, as he turned down playing in the Q in favor of the USHL and eventually Harvard. Still, I have no interest in guys with limited range and who develop in leagues where fighting is frowned upon.

OHL for the win in the first round.

Kassian won't be available for the Habs . That said , both of them are interesting prospect .

Panik would be also an interesting pick for the Habs

Given that we traded up to get Higgins of all people, I wouldn't be against moving up to grab Kassian.

I would. The guy is more reputation than actual production.

That said, I don't really like him, so of course I'm against the idea of trading up for him.

Leblanc is a perimeter player and doesn't like physical play.

Does that ring a bell?

He has the same production curve as other notable big forwards. Rough first year in the CHL, PPG in his second, and we all know what he brings in terms of grit and fighting ability. For me it would come down to a face-to-face interview with the kid. If he's dedicated to hockey, he'll be a very good player who brings a dimension we sorely lack.

Considering that's not true, I'd say you've never watched him play.

I don't like his skating and I question his hockey sense, kind of doubting his ability to turn into a top line forward in the NHL.

Also, since he's the type of forward I'd want crashing the net, his low goal total puts another question mark.

It's not that Kassian is a bad prospect, but I think we'll be able to get a guy that will make a better pro, while some team will reach for Kassian because of his reputation and style and be disappointed with the end result.

He's no Lindros, that's for sure... but anyone taking him in the #10-#15 slot will likely be happy with getting a Scott Hartnell type who plays with more toughness and has the potential for 60-70 points in the NHL.

I'm looking at the Peterborough team he played on and I'm not disappointed by 25 goals in 60 odd games as one of the younger players on a team that only made the playoffs due to the OHL's generous seeding.

Jared Staal had 21 in his draft year. That total didn't impress me then, 25 doesn't impress now, especially from a gritty forward that's a mid first-rounder.

My boy Werek got 32 on a worst team than Peterborough. He's lighting up the other teams at the U18's (4 goals in 2 games).

Get me that guy. He'll make for a more productive pro. I guarantee it.
