When will Latendresse become a Milan Lucic?

What we need is latendresse to be our "lucic" and hit and play like a power forward and scare opponents. Man, I just hope

This series can be won if we win most of the individual matchups:

Lats vs Lucic
Laraque vs Thornton
Thomas vs Price
Julien vs Gainey
Koivu vs Savard
Lapierre vs Krejci
Kosto vs Axellson
Ryder vs Kostitsyn
Recchi vs Dandenault
Markov vs Chara
Komi vs Ward
Yelle vs Metropolit

Bostons playoff motto is: We want it, 2009
The habs motto should: The Comeback, 2009

I think most of us are happy with Lats' progress this year. He seems to be playing better day by day. Its a slow progress but its there for sure.

I do agree though that I'd like to see him play with more of an edge. I don't ever think he'll become the power forward that we all were hoping he'd become but we have to remember that he's still just a kid.

Playing more physical would be nice though.

.....to answer the initial question - never!! He can though become a valuable 3rd-liner who has the potential to play the body, cycle the puck well using his frame, and potting 20+ goals/year.

He will never be a WWF bruiser with the mentality of Lucic - I will always remember Lucic on the bench, after breaking the glass with a check, a fan bloodied and WWF Lucic laughing on the bench - what an idiot!

He doesn't have a mean streak.

That normally doesn't come from development and learning.

Yea...Lats is pretty much like the magority of our guys, not much killer instinct. Lucic's every cells is bully.

If I were the Habs' management, I would do everything possible to get Corey Perry from Anaheim in the off season.

Never. He, however, become a more cerebral top-6 forward.

he does not have the mean streak...at least not showing it...he has good hands but to be honest his speed does not let him catch up many targets of choice to check them.....

wouldn't mind if he fought more..he can fight but dunno up to which level

He needs:

- A mean streak

- To learn how to skate

- Work on speed, which he has..but there's still a way to go

He won't be our Lucic because he's not like him.

Lats has more offensive upside and will become a better player than Lucic once he really gets into his own.

Never, but he could well become a better player. He has considerably more upside to his offensive skills.

Habs fans seem about as obsessed with Lucic as Bruins fans. It's really quite odd.

OT

I always hoped that Higgins could hit like dustin brown...he has the physical abilities to give bone crushing hits throughout the game without impending his game..

going back to latendresse, a lot of posters seem to come back to a mean streak, a bit more speed (not just on straight line but in general too..stop and go....change of direction...etc..)

what i dont understand is from the coaching staff point of view...if the coach asks all his players to hit the other team hard, non-stop...wouldnt the players do that? ..

I assume Lats will become a Lucic directly after his brain transplant.

Aside from being big, they have very little in common as players.

While no NHLer should ever not work on his speed, I think people mistake awkwardness for lack of speed.

He's pretty good lately at beating people to the outside.

Latendresse will never be a Lucic. For one thing, he doesn't fight which also means that he doesn't pick and chose his fights!

I'm very pleased with Latendresse this season and because he's been in the league for 3 years, people tend to forget that he's only 21! To put things into context, Lapierre just turned the corner and he's 24. Plekanec turned the corner last year at 24 as well. Andrei Kostitsyn is still terribly inconsistent and he's 23. Young guys rarely have the consistency that they need until their mid-20's and some never get it (Kovalev anyone?).

Latendresse is physical, he's getting more and more confident and the best thing for him is to be matched with Lapierre as those two seem to enjoy each other's company on and off the ice. Guillaume is also quite mature for his age, already a father.

My last post about Ansar got deleted so I'll try to be as civil as possible.

Just click on "find other posts by Ansar" and you will see what I mean

This fellow created his account yesterday, yet, according to his own texts is familiar with the Bruins board.

His first post was a thread starter - he compared Price with Raycroft. Thread got locked.

Second post - he starts another thread where he quotes Jack Todd and defends the idea that Gillet is in it only for the money and plans to lose.

Third post - he goes to the Sens board and invites them to join the Habs bandwagon - guess the result.

And now this one - comparing Latendresse to Lucic ....then a ROFL post.

How long will it take before you people realize what he is ?

I hope it never happens, I don't want a coward like Lucic on our team. I would rather have someone who can control himself on the ice.

GO HABS GO!

It's nothing to do with realization. It's not caring.

I don't need to do detective work on him to realize he's trolling, but he's starting discussion topics. A few of them resulted in nice discussions on, get this, a discussion forum.

Who cares why he's doing it.

Lats could be like Lucic, but he will need to become violent, grow big ballz and the will to start fighting. We see it when he hit people, the guy is real strong, I'm sure he can destroy opponant's face if he decides to fight. But he dosent seem to care at all about it.

I've heard he's injury prone for conccussions, it may be one of the reasons.

It's reactions like yours that keep him going.

If we have rational discussions everytime he posts, then he'll probably stop.

How about never!

Lats will likely be a career 3rd liner - who (ususlly) does not use his biggest asset - his size!
