Never. He doesn't have the mean-streak of Lucic.

Sometimes you work hard but the results dont look good, so it might not be effort all the time, sometimes it is, but not always, some other times it ll just be plain luck, or whatever, that shot he took vs Thomas, some days it ll go in, some days it wont, etc
I dont question Kovys lack of heart, more lack of, well, I see him as a regular player that can do ama

Now about Latendresse....
Or is it more about Lucic?
For how long can Lucic keep that pace? that s more the question to me, Imo, those type of players dont last very long at that pace. He probably wouldnt last more than a few years if he played everyday like he did vs The habs the other day.

At the end of the day, say in 3-4-5 years, where will they both be?
Will Lucic be able to keep that pace for his career ? Or will other youngsters come do the same thing he s doing now, but they ll have more energy because he ll be older....?

Now Lats otoh, could be a much different story..

Style wise, Latendresse reminds me more of a Leclair type, whereas Lucic is more of a Corson type. Very different types of players. I'm talking more of style rather than thinking Lats will become LeclairV2.

How can you say that. Lucic is a better player now and he's younger than Lats. Gui is an average 3rd liner who'll look good when he plays with sparkplugs like LAPPY & kosto.

Very possible but ya he will never be a fighter in any sense of the word.

What is he, one year younger? And I still think Lats can be as effective if not more so. I also still think he should have spent some more time in the minors etc but that is water under the bridge and we can just hope he continues to develop. Had he played as many games as Lucic his point production would have been a fair bit closer and averaged more goals per game.

Latendresse has filled the gaping hole left by the departure of Chad Kilger.

If healthy this season he would've had around 20 goals this season as a 21 year old, with very limited power-play time and playing with 2 guys not known for their offense... i'm not saying he'll be a first line player but he'll definitely at least be a second line player.

Don't wanna overrate him at this point, but he has a chance to be a bit like John LeClair. Actually... a poor-man's John Leclair. Which much better than, let's say... Milan Lucic.

Actually, Kilger was a great skater. His hockey brain was just... awful, not to mention he wasn't consistent at all.

Lucic has 3 more goals playing 72 games vs 56 games. Plus Lucic played with Savard and Kessel mostly while Latsw played with Lapierre and Kostopoulos. Offensively Lats is more advanced, Lucic is more feisty/cocky and skates better.

I just want to clear up that I am not asking him to become an animal. From my understanding, Gui was always a nice respectful guy on the ice.. Which like I said is ok with me.. I don't want a team full of guys who go out there smiling when they Board someone. But in his case, it might do him and the team good to step up his physical play. It's part of hockey. If skill alone doesn't make you win, you have to start being more physical..

I remember seeing Todd Ewen in an interview at his house. He looks so soft. He spoke softly, had his kids sitting on his lap drawing with crayons, etc.. But then when it came to hockey, he'd drop his gloves when he thought his team needed it which was quite often.

Lets say it is much easier for him to play with the two best forwards than the two slumping guys that he used to play with. The two players that you said Kovalev was drowning because of his lazy play. The two players that has 3 goals combined in their last 15 games.

And i dont get why you are always on Kovalev's case. You bash everytime you get the chance. I am not the one that started talking about Kovalev on a Latendresse thread. Dont want me to talk about it, dont talk about it. Almost all the players had the ups and downs this season, not only Kovalev.

I think Lats is playing pretty well of late.

That said, he will never scare any opponents with his aggressiveness. It is just not in him.

You cannot make someone play mean if they are not mean to start with.

Hopefully he can develop into a player such as Glen Murray. Big, hard to move, and scores with a good shot.

But Lucic... it just ain't in him.

Latendresse and Lucic are not even remotely similar in character, style or skill.
Almost like asking when Streit will be like Komisarek!

Apart from solid built, Lats will continue as a third or fourth liner, effective but not a consistent game changer.

??? Lats has way more skills than Lucic, way better hands and goal scoring abilities. Lucic is a freak of nature, for his age to have that balance and skating is something special which makes him more effective than Lats right now but hes not the most talented guy outhere. Something tells me that this series will be Lats coming out party...
