LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a three-year entry level contract with forward Konstantin Pushkarev, Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
Pushkarev, 19, appeared in five games this past season with Avangard Omsk of the Russian Hockey League and recorded a goal and zero penalty minutes. The 6-0, 180-pound native of Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, also appeared in 34 games for Avengard in the Russian First Division where he registered 28 points (17-11=28 ) and 64 penalty minutes.
Originally selected by the Kings in the second-round (44th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Pushkarev is expected to join the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League for the upcoming season.
This is a good move he'll finally get some quality development time. I've been anxious to see how he looks on the ice, we all know he's a great prospect but none of us have been able to get a true reading on him.
