Nice cookie from last night:

The hit that Marc had on Sid The Kid was even heavier than Colton's - and will most likely be discussed over the Staal family's Christmas table in some weeks.

Bjurman made a visit to The Rock in the 5-8 loss to the Devils.

Quote:
At the score 5-5 Sather is standing up, celebrating in the owner's box.
Ten minutes later he is sitting down again, with no intention of getting up anytime soon.
From the corner of his mouth a cigarr stub is hanging. Actually it looks like he's about to eat it....
...and if you are the one responsible for Kalinin wearing a blue shirt, you actually do have a good reason to eat a cigarr right now.

I read his blog and I start to think in Swedish and all of my English goes through google translate. If that doesn't make sense, then I just proved my point!

Quote:
.... it happens AGAIN! Rangers let in tonight's second in numerical inferiority. Soon they may start to occur at the circus.

Large sensation! Come and see hockeylaget who always let in goals when they may have more players than the opponents on the ice.

Bjurman is in California covering the Rangers road trip.
A funny quote from yesterday's game at Staples Center.

Quote:
No changes in the Rangers roster as of yet.
It will probably remain that way until Sundin tells the world about his decision.
But Sather has got to have a game plan set up in the event of Mats signing...And just as I have arrived at the Staples Center I see Sather in one of the corridors and I get this irresistable urge to kidnap the ******* and drive him to a hypnosist in West Hollywood to know what's gonna happen!
funny stuff

I have a phrase written in the notebook after this period.
It can not be anything else when Rosie O 'Donnell goes and puts a penalty. Rosie! Fantastic. It is like watching an old circus horse suddenly perform a trick no one thought he remembered.
A circus horse? I don't know what's funnier, that he calls Roszival Rosie O'Donnell, that he compares him to a circus horse, or that he references a horse's memory.

I've started the habit of reading Bjurman pre-game and in the intermissions. There's always some spot on commentary or some small detail that is just really fun to read about.

Like in some really boring game vs. some team I have repressed, when many of his comments were about a banana fly he had spotted along the press stand and reported what it tried to eat and do. Then he commented in the 3rd period that the fly was gone, probably out of boredom.

Pre Rangers@SJ
--
- Hey, Doulglas Murray shouts, as I leave his seat, tell Freddie to keep his head up. Finished with a big grin.

Fast Freddie makes a face when the greeting from Murray is delivered.

- The bad part is that it's not a joke. I've received some real "kisses" from him over the years.

--

So what really happened in Detroit?
- I can give a thousand of excuses, the fact is that we played like crap. Murray is as no nonsense off the ice as he is on it.

--
Quadzilla (Fast Freddie) fires back at Murray.
- I'll just have to skate around him as usual.

It could've been worse, coach.
In Rangers there are players that're NOT trying to do what they can.
What's the point with THAT?

Well yes and no.

It's the blog of Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet's US correspondent. Who happens to be based in NY and likes hockey.

So he goes to the Garden when he can, and sometimes other arenas when he happens to be somewhere else.

Since he's working for a Swedish newspaper his focus is obviously on the Swedish players of where ever he might end up.

Not just sport, the poor ******* is supposed to cover anything.

Sports, politics, economy, what ever.

It just pure luck for us that he likes hockey so he covers it when not sent away to cover changes in cheese production in Wisconsin ...

This excellent blogger with his great special humour deserves attention yet again.

Bjurman talked with all the Swedes after the game. Postgame comments:

Lundqvist: "It was an incredibly nice victory and I mainly think it went well, but I'm never 100% satisfied if I allow three goals."

Shoe on the hit from Green: "I just lost my air a little bit."
Shoe on if the hit was unjust: "No, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. It was a good hit."

Näslund on if he got lashed by Torts because of his penalties: "No, it was fortunate we won", he says with a pale smile.
He is aware it wasn't completely successful: "It was unfortunate situations, but I obviously have to play smarter."

Caps' Bäckström on the game: "If it wasn't for him (Lundqvist), we would've had 3-0 after the 1st," he says quietly.

Mara also gloated at Näslund for his choice of suit. Apparently his legs were considered too wide. "Just because you picked your own best suit" muttered Näslund.
"This..." Mara laughs and pulls his grey collar a little bit, "... I consider... B."

Bjurman is also very disappointed that the rumours that several Caps players, Bäckström included, were going to colour their hair red, proved to be false.

Hanky Panky Lundqvist är nöjd där han efteråt sitter i sitt hörn och gör intervjuer i en halvtimme

huh? =P

Bjurman has his weird (and several) nicknames for practically everybody he knows and doesn't know. Shoe is called Birger, Michael Nylander is called "Nyllet Nyfiken", practically "The Curious Face" (from the children's book Curious George), etc...

Torts is called Tårtan, meaning "The Cake" in Swedish.

If you want to read the blog, as have been said, google translate is your best friend, even if it's in as broken english as Ovechkin's.

Cake is Tårta in Swedish, the Å sounds like an O more then an A so it makes perfect sense, if you speak Swedish.

Jag vet grundläggande svenska men inte mycket.

Didn't get the Tort reference until you pointed it out though, now I understand.
