Obviously its been a bad season. Injuries, illnesses, off ice drama, young players going backwards in development rather than forwards (the bruins young guys all made leaps forward this year, our guys, most went backwards....it happens), a coach who got frustrated and alienated some of his team and a rumor mongering press out for blood.
That doesn't excuse the piss poor performance from a few players that is tanking this team's ability to win. Bottom line, the moral is in dumps. The only hope now is Halak outright stealing game 3. That's what needs to happen to get this team thinking they have a shot.
He showed this year that he can steal some important games.. but I'm sure Gainey won't play him.. I mean, how bad would he look if we start winning with Halak?

How would he look if Price lost another two?
At this point...
I think he means for Gainey's ego and/or the press.
CBC stated before Game #1 that Gainey had said that Price was the future and was the better goalie down the stretch when the games mattered.
We all know that Price is Gainey's golden boy. It's the NHL's worst kept secret, even if Gainey doesn't come right out and say it each passing day.
If Gainey goes with Price and fails, I hate to say it, but I sincerely hope he loses his job in the off-season. If he goes with Price, and it pays off, I still sincerely hope they evaluate his tenure and future with our club.

Maybe, but I hardly think getting swept with Price putting up a sparkling .875 save percentage is going to do a whole lot for Gainey's ego. We'll see though; I don't think there's any way to justify not going to Halak for the next game but I've been wrong on this quite a few times this season.
I agree with you though -- if we're going to blindly stick with Price no matter what, I hope Gainey's gone too. Something to keep in mind that I haven't seen brought up yet though...if Gillett is actually trying to sell the team (and I'm still skeptical), do you think he'd fire Gainey or even accept his resignation? A new owner would want to put his own management team in place so I really couldn't see Gillett making any changes. One things for sure -- it would really suck to go through yet another rebuilding attempt with a group that ownership wasn't committed too.
Oh well, we'll worry about that in the summer I suppose.
I know Price fanboys are gonna be like "its not his fault wah wah wah we suck!".
But still what we need is a guy who will save routine stops AND bail us out on our muck up's! Price can't do that and he has proven choker in like 9 of his lat 11 playoffs game. Let Halak ride it out, nothing to lose at this point!
Who gives a flying rat's butt how Gainey looks? That looser is on his way out.
"J'aime mon equipe".
Keep smokin Bob...
Yea, because he should have said ''I think we're weak at some positions, but deadline has passed so let's hope for the best''.
Was that what he was supposed to say?..
Or would you have preferred he just got a rental??..Get rid of some players under contract for another upcoming UFAs, so that we have even more than 10spots to fill next year.

At this point I can't see how they go back to Price...our fans would be even WORSE on him if he let a softy in.
Halak plays now I think...Price played fine game 1, but he just looked shellshocked in game 2. With all that said, it's not all our goalie's fault when shots are coming from good scoring positions - but I think it all comes back to how fragile our team is...it's like the end of the world when we get down 1-0.
Price can't be blamed for yesterday's lost. He'll get the net again and the entire team needs to sohw up for the monday home game. They need to think what they can do each period before thinking about winning the two games because Price's mental may still be fragile since this team does nothing to help him.
I heard loud and long cheers last night at the bar where I was watching the game when Halak entered in 3rd period. I guess that finally I'm not alone anymore who's tired of that little punk.

You are FARRR from alone... but we need to face the fact that people are sooo brainwashed by the media regarding that little punk...
I can't believe Price can let in 5 goals in 90% of his starts since jan. and people still say nothing is ever his fault. Well you are right, its not his fault he isn't a good goalie. I mean.. he tries!
A few of those goals last night Price has to stop, those momentum leecher goals kill you. Halak is way better and he is much more confident and doesn't let everything phase him.
Its not Gainey's fault this year either. Gainey took the same team that finished first in the east last year and made it to the second round of the playoffs, added Lang, Tanguay and Laraque, and hoped for an even better year.
If the prideless second line shows up to play, Montreal could do well.
I really hope that the Kostitsyn brothers and Plekanec are gone next year. You need character to carry a team, and these guys just don't have any.
