I still dont understand how could the Flyers end up being very last in the nhl with 58 pts two years ago and now have a line up with Richards, Carter, Briere, Gagne, Giroux and Timonen. With secondary player like Lupul, Hartnell and Knuble who has 25-30-27 goals respectively.
I agree with everyone saying we need more grit and size.
Im looking at our roster and there's only Komisarek that I would be ''scared'' to play against. It almost like Komisarek doesnt belong here since hes the only guy who actually gets angry on the ice, the other one are doing the pushing after the whistle but none of them actually has that mean streak, that is "scary". Souray has that but he costs too much. We need guys like that.
Thats why I envy the Flyers and Ducks. Doesnt have much talent, but their players are big and plays big.

You cannot fail with players like that.
I agree - just need guys who aren't afraid of contact and can dish out some hits on a regular basis.
- A real coach
- Not having 3 centermen who are 5'10. For the love of god, please stop with this. Are we destined to be the team that is small and soft down the middle for the rest of our lives? Do people realize how many problems this creates?
- This Markov situtation. We CANNOT rely on him this much. 6-17 record without him? What if he breaks his arm one time? That's it we just give up on the season? We need a TRUE #2 defenceman. Komisarek and his junior league puck skills will never be it.
- An offensive go to guy that starts playing before game 70.
I said, they cannot failed we the players they have now. With Carter, Richards, Gagne, Hartnell, Lupul, Knuble. Playing with big players like that, Briere and Giroux has all the liberty to play.
And one more thing that helps them, something like 95% of their line-up is north american. Only Timomen and Nittymaki are euro, the rest of the team are canadians or americans.
Thats how you RE-BUILD a team in freaking 2 years.
We have got to be in the best position imaginable heading into this off-season.
We have a lot coming off our books on June 30 (purchasing power). Combine this with current economic uncertainty (less teams willing to buy = less competition).
I know a lot of people don't, but I'd really like to bring back Tremblay.
Seasonned NHL coach, believes in a patient game based on defensive responsability and counter-attacking, should get our guys to play a strong forecheck, knows his Xs and Os, willing to come back to the zoo.
That style of play should make us contenders in the playoffs as long as we have people buying into the system.
Another thing we need is to adapt the philosophy of player pursuit. We have too much mish-mash and not enough team identity. Get a coaching staff that believes in a certain type of game, set them in for 5 years (so you gotta do your homework BEFORE) and draft/sign the type of guys that fit that style. Not get the best talent available, get the best talent that fits.
Dude c'mon! Tremblay's not a seasoned coach and his last stint in Montreal was a disaster. He drove Patrick Roy out of Montreal and we haven't been good since. We'd be taking a huge step back again if we hired Tremblay.
I can't see this team making the playoffs next year. Our UFA's won't be back to a loser team like this. If we were a good team i could see us retaining those guys but they'll sign for good money on a better team. We are back to square 1 really, no further ahead then the leafs. Poor management of our assets to say the least..

That is ridiculous.A UFA will sign if the money is good.
Many ****** teams have signed free agents with little problem so if the money is right they will stay.

Montreal is not "many teams".
When this team is bad, the city is the worst environment in the world for a pro hockey player. Taxes are also brutal. Seriously a 5 mil per year deal in a place like Dallas is equivalent to almost 7 mil per year in Montreal after taxes, is it that bad! UFA's never come here and it will be no different this year.
