This is why I want an elite goalie on the Flyers within the next couple years. Not that Biron didnt play well but if we had someone like Fleury on this team for the next 5 years we would be a complete force. Kids good.

Jesus Christ, just stop. I mean that towards everyone. Fleury's not elite-- he's just getting hot at the right time. Just like Biron did last year.

And frankly, he just did his job tonight. He didn't really have to make a ton of difficult saves. He did as the game went on, but above all, he just made saves like any goalie should.

The only reason they looked spectacular is because he's a ****** who unnecessarily flails his body around to do it.

On a positive note:

According to the box score, the Devils lost with 1 second left.

On a goal that was scored because Jokinen Hartnell'd Brodeur and there was no call.

no ****. it looks like Carter could care a less if he wins a draw or not.....it frustrates the hell out of me!!

top 2 lines for next game should be:

Gagne - Richards - Giroux
Hartnell - Carter - Briere

something needs to change

You're not allowed to RUN the goalie to score a goal, but you can certainly make contact with the goalie if you're actively playing the puck.

I guess all the bad calls, and non calls, are making me not agree with you. Youre a smart guy and I have no doubt that you know what the rule book says on this. Sid did drive the net and played a bouncing pass, lost an edge, went down and the puck hit his stick/glove. He 100% drove birons leg back into the net, a good bit, before the puck crossed the line.... Both of Sids legs are in the goal before the puck goes in.

Just an FYI with regard to making contact with the goalie:

Quote:
69.6 Rebounds and Loose Pucks - In a rebound situation, or where a goalkeeper and attacking player(s) are simultaneously attempting to play a loose puck, whether inside or outside the crease, incidental contact with the goalkeeper will be permitted, and any goal that is scored as a result thereof will be allowed.

Yes he is...but unless we get a high round pick and/or lucky in the draft, it isn't something I'd be holding my breath on.

Contact is one thing but in that situation Biron could not get across to make the save because Crosby was moving Biron out of the while while sliding into the net. I know he didnt do it on purpose but just because you dont do something on purpose doesnt make it ok. If your skating by and lift your stick around a player and hit him in the face by accident its still a penalty.
Read above.

Carter did get killed by Crosby, though -- 4/12 ... owned Staal 5/7.

But they're so awful and lazy! They don't even care!

...yeah, I'm being facetious. It's not that they're awful, it's that they're just not really good. And, yes, someone should definitely take them aside to make them better.

But this isn't the thing people should be complaining about tonight. I did, however, know it would be when the commentators all started slobbing knob over the draws tonight, even though the difference was marginal.

Go back and watch game 2 highlights on youtube of the Habs series last year, I think Marty let up 2 goals but he stoned all of the Habs best players on the PP from high quality chances.

But the hero Claude Giroux ... 5/14. Man he sucks.

Carter was over 50% on draws.

This team has dominated the last 2 games and a lot of game 2. If Fleury has played anything less than stellar this series its 2-2 at the worst and most likely 3-1 Flyers. What exactly do they need to change? 46 shots makes you think our offense sucks?

The only thing that we need to change from tonight's effort is the number of pucks that go inside the posts compared to off them.

If the Flyers play 3 more games just like this one, they have 50/50 shot of going to the next round IMO.

I really dont think Biron is the problem here, he gave up 2 goals and 1 of them was from someone running him into the back of the net, he had a good game. His first game of the series was shaky but who in the world could hold a team to under 2 points per game in the playoffs? Putting up 3 points, or 4, should not be a problem for this team. Biron did really screw them on the PP though, he had a huge hand in the team going 0 for 8..... How can anyone see the problem as anything but the PP? How many back handed floaters into the offensive zone were batted down/caught and sent out on a rush for the pens? How many cute little passes were tried on the PP (Richards) only to fail? Biron was the least of this teams problems.

Sorry if this was mentioned before, but does anyone else here think that Giroux should be fit somewhere into the top 2 lines. He is the only one playing amazing hockey at the moment, and deserves better. Briere has been alright and Powe has been alright.
