I've felt that Voracek's been getting better and better.
If his teammates could receive a pass or shoot the puck or were able to deal with his speed, I think you'd see around 10 more points out of him. Of course, the teammate that could and did do exactly that, was Brassard.

Just saw that on Puck-rakers. Sucks. But at least the doctors are being careful with him.

Quote:
The Blue Jackets got their first bit of playoff bad news today. Rookie center Derick Brassard did not receive clearance to resume contact drills from his Cleveland Clinic doctor, the Dispatch has learned.

General manager Scott Howson is not sure when Brassard will see the doctor next. Howson hasn't spoken to the doctor yet. If Brassard had been green-lighted, he might have been in as early as Game 3.

What this does for his status for the remainder of the series is unclear. Brassard is en route to Detroit. More later.

I'm honestly a little surprised by this, I was counting him in.

I'm glad I'm not a doctor.

GREAT NEWS I am very happy that we did not put a rookie, who has been out most of the season, into the Lions den against the Red Wings to work off the rust. Right now we need solid players who are 100% and earned this chance.

Brassard's shoulder will be re-examined next week according to Puck-Rakers:

Quote:
Blue Jackets rookie center Derick Brassard and his surgically-repaired right shoulder will be re-evaluated next week, the Dispatch has learned.

Brassard will miss at least the first three games of the series and likely more as he awaits medical clearance. General manager Scott Howson said Brassard may or may not return to the same Cleveland Clinic doctor. The shoulder is improving, Howson said, but not to the extent where Brassard can play.

Another Brass update from Puck-Rakers:

Quote:
Spoke to Brassard, who was the last player off the ice. He still has not given up hope of playing in the series. He said the doctor performed three tests on his shoulder and that he was about 95 percent in all of them. "I'll be 100 percent next week," Brassard said.

Brassard said he expects to see the same Cleveland Clinic doctor early next week.

Wow, that changed fast. Still, I don't want to take any chances. We need him 100% healthy for next season.

I see no reason to put Brassard or Filatov for that matter in for game 4. The season is over. Show up Thursday, make your tee times for Friday and get ready for next season with both of them 100% heathly.

Maybe with Brass, but I see no reason NOT to play the other call-ups based on the tee-time (us sucking) thing. If we called all these *future Jackets* up just for the "playoff experience", then throw them out there and let them get some real in-game experience. It's not like our current players are doing any better. Maybe we can pull off a little Bad-News-Bears mojo.

EDIT: I-love-using-dashes, "quotes" and *astericks* for no particular reason whatsoever.

I actually agree with this. Mostly because I would do anything to avoid a sweep at this point.

I would really love to see Brass come back on Thursday with a Filatov-Brassard-Voracek line. Just give us a glimmer of what we'll see next year to keep us hanging on through the off-season.
