Well if adderall helps your game out, have you considered cocaine or meth?

I'm up to no eating 5-6 hours before a game. On the drive to the rink I have an 8oz sugar free red bull, 3/4 of a blue Powerade stacked with Twin Labs Endurance Fuel and EAS Betagen. Strong like bull in the 3rd period and I sleep like a baby, take that banana boys.

I doubt I could get the prescription.

I'm not saying I take it exclusively for hockey... I'm saying a byproduct of it is that I have some more energy.

I played with a guy who had to hit the rails a few times a game. He was a goon though, and didnt like the feel of pain.

Energy drinks have never had the slightest effect on me.

I'm a goalie and I've noticed that my record (with the same team against the same level of competition) is better when I have a Red Bull about half an hour before a game than when I don't. I do feel more alert before games and "on" after drinking the Red Bull but I never thought it really mattered so sometimes I had one and sometimes I didn't. I started keeping track of wins and losses and oddly there was a good correlation to more wins after drinking Red Bull. So much so that now I have one before every game. To wrap it up we won our beer league championship this season (a first for me at any level). For what it's worth I can say that whether it is just in my head or if it really affects my play, I will always have a Red Bull in the car on the way to the rink before all future games.

My method

The only thing that has worked for me recently was for three games by playing without shoulder pads. This is men's league, and im 23 so i didn't get as tired as with them on, so was good for me But since im less likely to block shots and play aggresive, my game is off in that sense so im going to try the water and sleep method.

Okay after reading this thread and the posted material i tried playing for my team after taking 2 caffeine pills you can buy over the counter.

I played a step behind and felt like my heart rate was too high as well as not having the same "wind" and stamina.

I'm never doing it again.

Give me just plain old water like I've done for the last 35 years during a game.

How big/heavy are your pads? At 23 a 1/4 lb shouldnt affect you.

I always have an energy drink before a game.....i went from an XXL monster..to a small redbull.....not sure if it does anything or its just in my head since both have the same effect..oh well...its tradition now.

I usually play 2-3 times a week around noon before work. I have a cup of coffee or a Red Bull because I'm just waking up.

The more important thing for me is to drink water before I play so I'm not dehydrated.
