Blaming the fan is kind of like blaming the victim. If I had gone into the playoffs thinking my team was very good, and they can't get up for a game against a hated rival, no matter how good that rival is, I'd be upset too. I had to walk off a lot of frustration even after the hard fought 2008 series when the Bruins crapped the bed in Game 7, I would probably have booed if my team had turned in this level of performance when expectations and hope were for a little higher. (I mean, couldn't they steal a single GAME???).
And especially with some of the managerial silliness that happened in the middle of the season, I would defend my team before other fans but I would also spend a lot of the offseason worrying just what kind of fail circus my team was running here and even be nervous about my team's ability to rebuild. I was having very dark thoughts at my team during the mercifully short Dave Lewis managerial error in Boston.
The first 6 minutes of this video are incredible, Laraque is so great at interviews.
Played with 2 herniated disks, talks about Price, the fans, the pressure in MTL, the tough season, UFAs not signing in MTL.
At the beginning, he is asked if he would jump someone, and he answers: "Why? What message would I send? That I'm angry, it would only be stupid..."
My respect towards this guy just went through the roof!
Too bad it's so long as from reading some of the comments in this thread, some who don't understand French could benefit from hearing what the guy had to say. Far from excuses, he's painting a clear picture.
Great interviews for both of them. I wouldn't mind at all if Dandenault was brought back...at the right price. Mostly because he seems like one of the few that truly appreciate wearing the jersey. Plus he still got some wheels on him too
