Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that beauchemain signing here is a pretty big and real possibility..

but id still like to pursue bouwmeester tho, but it would be GREAT to land any of these 2 guys, but realisticaly, i think beauchemin might be a hab next year

gainey also needs to throw DIRTYYY money at hossa or gaborik, landing one of THOSE two would also be a godsend. get to work bob

Actually, the opposite, but I'm allowed to dream. In the best case scenario having that line-up is possible. By best case scenario i mean discounts around the team, but it wouldn't occur.

Defence:

Komisarek-3.25
markov 5.75
Bouwm-6.25
gorges-1.1
o'byrne-0.9
weber-0.9

Total=18.15

Forwards:

Koivu-3.5
kovalev-4
Andrei-3.25
Higgins-2.75
BGL-1.5
Sergei-0.8
lapierre-0.7
Latendresse-1.5
stewart-0.5
sedins-6 each, 12 together
Staal-4
neil-2.5

Total=37

Goalies

Price-2.2
Halak-0.8

Total:3 mil

Grand total=58.15

I was being cap friendly though, took the numbers off of nhlscap.com. Invented the rest for UFAs and RFAs. If the bonus cushion is still around for rookies, I heard something about it now counting towards cap. If that's not the case, it's possible but highly unlikely, if we're dreaming, might as well dream big.

Its funny, everyone fails to realize

All the BIG BIg teams are pretty much near the cap, they will have alot of difficulty persuing anyone BIG because of their lack of cap space

and all the crap teams are suffering financialy and wont be willing to throw enourmous contracts at players

the habs however, have loads of money, at the most oppurtune time ..

i see a decent name forward and defenceman signing here, itll be tough for other teams to match or surpass the contracts gainey SHOULD be giving at the right players on the market, and i think we can give 2 pretty large size contracts

Most people are estimating that the cap will be around 54-56. We'll have to see I guess...

I really do hope that the cap goes down significantly...It might force some a star to sign here, since we will be able to make big offers.

The cap will be similar, it's the year after it goes down no?

Sami Pahlsson, Travis Moen and Mike Grier.

That would be a kick ass 3rd line. Not to mention all 3 would only take up about 4 million in cap.

The only guys I think we should pursue other than our own are one of Knuble/Bertuzzi, one of Roloson/Fernandez and Ohlund.

I've done my part and scouted some teams in the playoff and here are some unknown very good nhl player that could help us.

Michael Rupp
: Big body, good reach, physical and very good along the boards. He could come kinda cheap and fill a hole on the 4th line maybe 3rd line.

Manny Malhotra: Very, very good on faceoff actually he's one of the top faceoff man in the NHL. Very good skater, solid checker and would bring some size. He could be expensive since he's coming out a very good year in Columbus but he would definately help us down the middle. projection top tier 3rd liner.

Travis Moen
: Agitator with solid skills, hardworker and solid defensively, in your face type of player and motor to any team he has played for.

Todd Marchant: Elite skater and solid forechecker he seems to raise his game when the expectation are up. He could take a paycut and come back to Canada...

Dominic Moore: See Malhotra...

Seidenberg: Solid defenseman, very good skater, could fill in as a bottom pairing defenseman.

Laperriere: Inspirational player that play his heart out everytime.

De Vries
: Veteran defenseman that his reliable defensively and can bring some grit.

Oduya: He's getting better and better every year (remember streit?), he has been one of the best defenseman for one of the best defensive team in the league.

Paul Mara: Solid veteran defenseman with tons of experience.

Dimitri Kalinin
He can make some errant pass but he still has some upside.

Rob Blake: Him and Boyle have been SJ best players. He would definately bring invaluable experience to the backline.

Rick Rypien Fiesty young player.

Some are worth consideration on your list. Here are some others worth considering:

Hossa
Bouwmeester
Malhotra (face-offs)
Biron, Garon or Kolzig
Neil
Boucher (Philippe)

Beauchemin or Ohlund would be a good sign for the D.

Beauchemin, Oduya, Malhotra & Laperrière + Clemmenson if they trade Halak away.

Kurtis Foster might be a good option too. ad well as Moen.

Didn't realize Ohlund was a free agent. If we are serious about improving our defense, he would be a hell of a signing.

he is also as good as gone in Vancouver. Talks have broken off and they can't even afford him, even at a discount.

I wouldn't say no to Moen, but not if we keep Kostopoulos.

The Sedin's could be very interesting if we can't land a Bowmeester or a Hossa.

Sedin-Sedin-Pacioretty (If he can play a Burrows role)
Tanguay-Plekanek-Kovalev
Higgins-****-A.Kost
Latendresse-Lapierre-Kostopoulos

We would need a experience center between A.Kost and Higgins. Someone like Fedorov or Lang.

Option 2:

Tanguay-Cammalleri-Hossa
Pacioretty-Plekanek-Kovalev
Higgins-Madden/Pahlsson-A.Kost
Latendresse-Lapierre-Kostopoulos

we have many options, not sure about option 2 on Salary cap, but aniway, I share idea.
