Trainer/Conditioning Coaches

I know the team has trainers. How much input do they have to off-season conditioning and/or strength training? Yes we had considerable bad luck with regard to injuries, but I wonder if we can be proactive about trying to prevent them with conditioning... maybe we already are. The injury that really pops out at me are the shoulder injuries. Komi, Scheider, Lats, Tanguay. A few years ago I seem to remember an epidemic of lower abdominal injuries, and I think the trainers addressed that with some different workouts.

I know some players show up to training camp a bit out of shape, so I'm guessing the team has no control over conditioning. Am I wrong?

I think for the amount they're paid and considering what is invested teams should have more of a say in offseason workouts etc...

Thoughts??
