Besides timonen I think that alberts has been our secnd best defenseman in this series. He has been playing extremely well. Skating hard. Breaking out the rush. Taking care of malkin and crosby. Anyone else agree?

Nope. He has been better than usual, but like Smith he cannot deal with having the puck on his stick. I like the physicality but his puck skills still suck

I actually like Alberts all year and wouldn't mind seeing him as our 7th with ability to move up on an as needed bases, he moves pretty good for a big guy. He's having a good playoff run and rocked crosby. Timonen has been himself, but Coburn has also been very noticable in a good way.

I've really liked Parent and Coburn this series. Coburn has stepped it up big time recently and Parent is looking absolutely fantastic. Though Jones and Alberts have BOTH looked great the last 2 games. This means alot from me because I HATE Randy Jones. But he is starting to command some respect

IMO this is the ranking of dmen this far into the playoffs.

Timonen
Coburn
Carle/Parent
Alberts
Jones

Kimmo has played big minutes in every situation and has been the rock he always is.
Coburn has logged a ton of minutes, it seems like hes always on the ice and hes always makings good 1 on 1 defensive plays
Carle has impressed me this series. Hes jumping up in the play and getting involved a lot in the offensive zone all while not hurting us in our own end.
Parent is wise beyond his years and had been damn solid as well.

Not that I think Alberts has been playing bad, I dont think Jones has played bad either. i think our defense has looked pretty solid all around actually.

I thought you were going to say that watching this series has forced you to start thinking about joining AA.

He should probably consider it if he thinks Alberts has been anything close to great this series.

He has been far from it. I'm getting leery of his mishandling of the puck and consistent turnovers.

My defenseman rankings:

Timonen
Parent
Carle
Coburn
Alberts
-
-
-
-
-
Jones.

Honestly what the **** is up with Jones? He gets paid 2nd pairing $$ to be an "offensive" defensemen. When the **** is the last time he has taken a shot from the point that hasn't been blocked or deflected off a Bruin and into the net. I also never see him make any smooth outlet passes. Alberts moves the puck better than him out of the zone for crying out loud. **** you Randy Jones.

Sure. For the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hes at his best when the puck isnt near him. When he can just hit people. The moment you put a puck on his stick Alberts starts thinking and then the problems start.

Watch him get the puck behind the net one of these times. He just stands there trying to map out what to do like its an academic journal and hes struggling to get through the abstract.

Skating -> B
Passing -> B
Hitting -> B
Smarts -> D+

KT has been the best with BC close behind. Does anyone wish we still had MT or MR?

I think Jones has been decent in the playoffs honestly...at least as good as Alberts.

And serious, do you have Parent AND Carle ranked higher than Coburn? Coburn has been great in the playoffs, without him we would be seriously screwed.

I know I'll kick myself when it gets pointed out though.
