What about Weapon X? Since Dawkins isn't here anymore maybe we could pass it to Giroux.

First of all, I come in peace and congrats on a big win in our house last night. Looks like the seires is destined to be a bot more interesting than any of our fans wanted it to be.

I love that this thread exists and all it represents. Wasn't Giroux someone that most of the folks on these boards wanted run out of town, if not murdered and thrown off of a bridge after Game 2?

I love the fickle nature of all of us, as hockey fans. One game you get the bear, the next game the bear gets you...

^ I dont think any of us ever wanted to Run Giroux out of town, even when he has a bad game.

I could be mistaken, but I thought there was some hard feelings for the penalty in OT that game.

Either way, I just it's funny how we can all go from zero to hero in no time flat...

Yes definitely.

Just look at Marty B or most recently, Carle

Not really...

Giroux was excellent in Game 2, up until taking that unfortunate penalty. He's a rookie, it happens. Some people here I'm sure were pissed and calling for his head, but that's just how some fans react. The rational fans were much more forgiving. The kid is a superstar in the making... we'll gladly live with the growing pains.

I think that Knuble's penalty was taken with worse reaction. I for one said Knuble's penalty was unacceptable and Giroux's was unlucky.

I don't think any Flyers fans wanted to run Giroux out of town then, nor do they now. He'll hopefully be locked up long term some point next season and if he isn't expect people to try and run Holmgren out of town.

If Satan has a big goal or something in Game 6, then we'll have a similiar experience. He's been a marked man all season on the west side of PA.

Our board treats Jordan Staal the same way and say almost the same exact things about his growth into a premier third line center behind two guys that will always be ahead of him.

That kick pass to briere was SICK. He couldve tried doing it the "regular" way, but he prefers the "giroux way"

As to all the contract extension talk, i'm pretty sure he can't be extended until the final year of his ELC which will be in 2010-11

I thought about posting that too, but I decided not to rain on everyone's parade. That's kind of nice for me though. Gives me some time to get a job before I have to go out and buy his jersey immediately after he signs an extension.

If it wasnt for the fact that these new sticks seem to snap when you just look at them I cant be mad at Giroux for that penalty. A wood stick wouldnt have broke like that and no penalty would have been called. The Knuble penalty was far worse. bordering on the WTF were you thinkiing type.
Since that moment, Giroux has been one of the best players for the Flyers. People forget hes played a little more then half a season worth of games. We are watching a star develop in front of our eyes.

I always thought that was odd. I see a lot of talk of trading him (at least I did earlier in the year), and I always thought he was a helluva player from what I saw of him.

I think in the Flyers situation, he is going to be their first line center.

^ What situation? We have the top 2 centers as it is. Giroux will be a winger.

Does anyone have the video of Bob Clarke forgetting his name at the draft? I've looked and can't find it.
