Torts suspended?? (Update: Suspended for game 6)

http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/hockeybladet/internationellt/nhl/article4993749.ab

I could not find this elsewhere

This article from the Swedish newspaper (tabloid kind of) Aftonbladet states that Torts may a face a suspension for his actions on the bench for game 5 for throwing a water bottle into the crowds and waving his stick at the fans. Apparently Schoenfeld had to restrain him as he blew a gasget. It also states The Ranger organisation have no comments on the issue and refused to take questions on the matter during the press conference .

Great - playing the most important Game 6 of the year at MSG with a coach possibly suspended for not showing compsure and behaving like a madman. I like Torts as a coach (liked Renney for a while too but his time was up) but this is just plain stuopid nonsense - if it is true and he gets suspended.

Maybe he should tell Sean to behave - again. Incredible actually....Look in the mirror, John. What do you see?

John 8:7 is applicable (and I am not a biblical zealot at all - kind of a heathen actually)
He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone (waterbottle?)

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't this all started after someone poured beer on him?

Brooks reports that as well.

What I don't understand, is that Caps fans are saying Torts has thrown one bottle in the stands, one bottle that hit someone into the head...

Quote:
With 13 minutes 27 seconds remaining in the game, Tortorella, the fans said, became so angry with them that he hurled a water bottle over the plexiglass that separates the bench from the crowd, a bottle that struck Capitals' season ticket-holder Claudette Chandonia in the head. He then grabbed one of his player's sticks, stepped onto the bench and lunged toward the crowd, with the stick, as his entire Rangers team -- and the four game officials -- stood around him on the bench and on the ice.

"He was losing and he was frustrated, I guess," said Chandonia, who lives in the District. "I couldn't believe it. I looked up, and he was throwing the water bottle -- and then it hit me right here, right in the head, and it bounced off me."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...042500010.html

Or we have a video showing that the bottle has been blocked and fell back down on the bench... Hm... Who believe, the video? Or the poor Claudette Chandonia?

This would be ridiculous if he gets suspended for this. Granted he reacted, but a stupid fan threw **** on him.

According to recent reports from Verizon Center security, nobody threw anything at or on Torts. That was a misconception from the TV broadcasters, supposedly. Instead, he just threw the water bottle after being heckled. Not sure what to believe...

Either way, I see a suspension coming.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but I can understand it. If he had hit that one guy in the head, it'd be one thing. Essentially he hit an innocent bystander.

If anything this should pump up your team.

She's lying about being hit with the bottle, but he did attempt to throw the bottle and even threatened with a hockey stick. He's going to get suspended, and rightfully so. It was a stupid move. I guess it was a brain fart night for Tortorella because he coached like ****, too.

Apparently they interviewed the people in the first rows and no fan threw anything on him. There was some banging on the glass (where doesnt that happen) and he told them to stop (maybe they didnt stop).

Look at his left shoulder, there's something that falls back. Probably the bottle.

I think the bigger issue is terrible security if Torts had beer thrown on him at all. The Verizon Center claims it didn't happen....but would they admit it if it did? The Verizon Center also says from multiple sources that 'no one was ejected'.

In the end, Torts does have a temper, but is he going to randomly throw water bottles at fans for no reason? Come on...

Yes he 'should have been the bigger person' but that wouldn't excuse security for being bad if it was.

Game 6 is all that matters now anyway whether or not Torts is there or not.

im almost positive i saw someone spray tortorella with something. MSG showed the replay of that but i dont think they showed tortorella with the water bottle and stick.

No it doesn't. The bottle goes over, the piece that holds the pieces plexiglass together at the top is what fell down on to the bench side. That's what you see falling after he hurls the bottle.

Guys...watch the video...i think Dikembe Mutombo works security there because the man in black with both hands up clearly rejects Torts' water bottle attempt into the bench.

The bottle didnt hit anybody except Dikembe's hands.

OMG wait I saw it again. You're right. The plastic thing that holds the glass together is what fell. The bottle launched into the stands. Holy crap!! At the end of the video you a fat woman in red holding her head in the second row up on the left. Thank god she is ok. She looks a little on the older side.

That's messed up. Kinda ironic that Torts was talking about discipline.

He should be suspended. If he felt threatened, all he had to do was ask one of his assistants to tell security to handle the situation. If he got water dumped on him, he still needs to refrain from hurling objects in the crowd.

If i am that woman's husband or son, I am making it my life's mission to knock Torts out.

That's not what I see. I see the black man block the bottle, and it falls back toward the bench. If the bottle went flying out of his hand, you'd think the people around the area would look to see where it went. Nobody turns to see. That's why I think the bottle gets blocked.

I originally thought Torts got stuffed, but after reading what you said I looked again and it clearly is the piece that holds the glass that is knocked. The guy looks like he tried to block it and he hits that thing right off.

Regardless of where the bottle went, he attempted to/did throw it and also held the hockey stick in a threatening manner. He's going to get suspended, and rightfully so. Maybe he should worry about coaching the hockey team in front of him and stop being a doucher.
