Actually, think that is quite a smart deal. But can't see Isles switching picks for Montreal's 2nd. Maybe Montreal's 1st and a Plekanec. Something like that.

To NYI: Tampa's 1st, MTL 2nd
To MTL: Vinny
This would only make sense if the Isles decide on hedman

Not even close from the Isles stand point.
The only thing the Isles get for giving up the top spot is the Habs 2nd round pick??? No where near enough. even if the Isles want Hedman or Duchene—No one knows who the Isles will pick. Further—if I am Tampa I don't make this trade.
If I am the GM of either the Isles or Bolts—I am over the moon at the way things have shaken out with the lottery.
The Islanders are in desperate need of offensive firepower and a name that can be marketed and sold to boost the franchise. John Tavares is that guy. As GM I take Tavares 10 out of 10 times.
The Bolts have their offensive guy—3 of them in fact. Lacavalier, St. Louis, and of course Stamkos. What they need is a big time defenseman much more then a forward. Hedman makes complete sense for the Lightning at the #2 spot.
I just dont see trades at the top end of the draft. The talant is too good, and of these two players—Tavares & Hedman—they will go to teams that need them. Not only are they the best athlete available at the spot they are being picked—but they also fill major needs for the team picking them. Both teams could not be in a better position. why would they screw that up?

If the Islanders know for a fact that Tampa is taking the guy they rate #2 or lower I would do it, else pass.
If there is some wierd 3 way trade between these teams were Vinny goes to Montreal and Tampa and Islanders switch picks, I think the price would be San Jose's pick going to one of the teams and Montreals #1 coming to the Islanders

But if Isles would even consider been part of such a deal, it would be because they want Hedman while Tampa is pretty much admitting they want Tavares by trading Lecavalier.
In this very specific situation, getting a 2nd rounder and landing the player they wants is a no-brainer.
From Tampa alone, Isles would ask for more. In such a deal? a 2nd would do. But giving up Lecavalier got to pay more than that for Tampa (unless they dont like Hedman at all)

Even is Okposo or Bailey was the prospect I don't see Tampa doing it.
I think a lot of armchair GM's will be disappointed when the lightning team is dismantled this summer due to financial restrictions. It's almost a certainty that 2 of Vinny, St Louis and Malone will get moved this summer and for a lot less than many people believe.
However i don't think the trade would make sense for Tampa Bay.
User njdevil3027 knows just how to get Vinny Lecavalier to Montreal: by having them give up Chris Higgins and a second-round pick. Seriously.
