I like Lappy but I would actually take Armstrong back. He wont get the 1.5 mil but probably around half that. He could be a part time 4th line energy player, veteran leader and dressing room favorite. Keeps the rookies trying to get the 4th line spot honest.

We'll find out around June 26th (that's when it was announced last year).

I say offer Lappy, the 4th line center to replace Army on and off the ice. I think Lappy can be a great investment for the kings.
i totally agree about pahlsson. he's a very strong player and i'm pretty surprised the ducks are doing so well in the playoffs without him. it's unfortunate that he just doesn't fit for the kings. he makes way too much to play fourth line minutes. the kings, for their part, don't have enough offense to replace handzus (18g, 24a) or stoll (18g, 23a) with pahlsson (7g, 11a) on any other line.

I'd love to see Stephane Yelle and one of Gaborik/Hossa added to the roster next year.

Brown - Kopitar - Gaborik/Hossa
Frolov - Stoll - Williams
Moller - Handzus - Purcell
Lewis - Yelle - Simmonds

Johnson - Quincey
O'Donnell - Doughty
Drewiske - Greene

Four lines and three defensive pairings that are capable at both ends of the rink. If we could fit Matthias Ohlund in there too and slot him in Drewiske's spot, this team would be even scarier.

How about Chad Larose? I think he's a UFA this summer, although Carolina would almost certainly attempt to re-sign him. If the organization opts for any sort of forward depth addition, this guy would fit right in on the third line with Zeus and Simmonds. Good work ethic, he can chip in on the scoresheet from time to time, and more importantly he's really proved himself capable in the post-season. Hell, he even played with Justin Williams (additional team chemistry and/or camraderie? ) Considering he seems to be a DL guy and is reasonably young, I'd expect interest from the Kings should he test the market.

Weird coincidence -I brought this up after seeing the TSN article, but I recall visiting Hockeybuzzhogwash for ***** and giggles before the trade deadline when they had *klund's rumour chart posted. Way at the bottom was Chad Larose, with rumoured interest from the LA Kings, and nobody else. Thought it was strange and random.

Just found this too: http://http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?blogger_id=56

Quote:
His story and path to where he is now is 1 of many great ones amongst NHL players. Despite putting up great numbers as a junior, he was undrafted because he was too small to ever be an NHL regular. But after working his way up the minors (there was no 1st round pick bye for lower levels), he found himself amongst the 40 or so players at the Canes 2005-06 training camp. He was nowhere to be found on the list of prospects to watch. But the guy just flat out played great hockey. He could not seem to finish to save his life (he did create enough chances that you could judge this), but the guy was just ALWAYS around puck – getting to a loose 1 1st, taking it from someone else, winning it on the boards, standing in front of the goalie hoping he would bobble and drop a shot, etc. He did not make the team out of camp only because of the usual “who has options to the minors and such” routine, but he found his way back in the NHL soon thereafter when room opened on the roster. He has been there ever since. He picked up right where he left off in training camp fitting nicely at right wing with Whitney/Cullen doing the dirty work winning pucks for the scorers. He scored little that regular season and even less in the 2006 playoffs, but he earned and excelled when given ice time as a gritty, checking line type of guy who you could put out there against anyone in any situation and not be worried. And there was never ever going to be a question about effort and intensity level. The guy had already far exceeded any NHL scouts expectation for himself carving out a regular NHL player as a 4th-liner capable of filling in on higher lines.

i watched a 30 minute program on nhl network about him, i believe it was called "a day in the life of (insert players name here)". he seemed like a genuine guy and definitely a dean lombardi type but i would still prefer chris neil over him if we can somehow swing it. i also don't see larose as out of the realm of possibilities though.

I was checking out Larose's stats and just noticed how he's been doing in the playoffs. I gotta say the guy is clutch when it counts. 8 points in 9 games so far. And from when I've seen him play, he's got a pretty deceiving and accurate wrister. He's not that scorer we need but I wouldn't mind having him on board.

Larose has a decent game but with the depth we added shouldn't guys like Lewis,Cliche,Meckler,Clone battle it out for that role on the club and spend the $ on a LW who can score.
I mean the purpose of all these draft picks is to build depth and not have to go out and sign a fouth line guy

No one is getting Arty. We just re-signed Tocchet as HC, and Arty fits Tocc's system perfectly. He ain't going anywhere.

I agree, but .. He is a great player. Could give new life to the 4th line.

Imagine .. Brian Boyle and Artyukhin on 4th Line ..

Would considerably increase the power of production this line .. that was a flop this season.

I am not disagreeing with you....but the Kings need to worry about production from their top 2 lines before they worry about their 4th line....The 4th line is not the reason the Kings did not make the playoffs this season.

Sure. The greatest need of kings is to improve the top 2 lines .. However, the 3rd and 4th line.. need to be improved too.

The 3rd line .. needs to LW.

The 4th line .. the situation is more complex ..

We did not make the playoffs for several reasons..

Exactly....but Dean needs to prioritize the needs of the team....the 4th line is not a priority right now. When A, B, C and D are taken care of then he can worry about E.....in a manner of speaking.

We should try to acquire the captain from every team. Then we will create a super team where everyone wears a "C" and all the leadership brings our team to victory.
