Why Habs Fans are delusional at best

This survey says it all. The mere fact they have a polling company doing a survey on a hockey team is a bad sign in itself. But the answers are beyond pathetic.

Wanted UFA's by the fans:

Hossa, Bowmeister, Neidermyer, Gaborik

Dreamers!

What survey?

Anyway, if the question is WHO WOULD YOU WANT. What is wrong with it? It wasn't who do you think the Habs will sign..

its who do you want from the UFA's.
There are plenty hockey surveys being done by Journal de Montreal over the seasons... so its nothing new.

Well you can't blame the fans for wanting to get top players. Granted I find it to be a waste of time, but you never know, maybe someday we will and a top notch UFA.

GG since he's the one that asked for it, I would assume he's footing the bill.

Ridiculous... wanting to sign the best UFAs? What are they thinking?

I've got no background on this, then.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

Close this thread unless there is:

A) A link posted to the survey.
B) A link posted to information about said survey.

Untill this information is posted, there is no said survey.

The survey in itself is a joke. They did it hours after game 4, of course fans will be pissed.

thanks guys.

Leger Marketing for Le Journal
547 respondents (Quebec only) it has the normal confidence interval stuff near the end of the aritlce +/- 5% 19/20... but doesn't say who it represents.

Residents of Quebec would be my guess. Since how would they be able to gauge the number of Hab fans, or even the number of Habs fans in Quebec.

Survey is just a quick fun thing... I don't know why they'd go into the representativeness-bit at the end

Given the huge disappointment of a season, I think the Habs fans deserve to dream on, dream about Lecavalier, Hossa, Gaborik, Bouwmeester, Kessel, Krejci, Barker. Let them soak it in, none of them will come here, its nothing new. We will just pick up a bunch of waiver players towards the end and fill the holes.

No biggie... I actually thought you may have been talking about that, since you referred to GG.

They should rather a survey to these players. Ask them if they would hypothetically come to Montreal. And ask the reason why they would or would not come.

The answers would probably look like this :

Hossa, no, because of the media

Bouwmeester, no, because of the media

Niedermayer, no, because of the media

Gaborik, no, because of the media

In that case I wouldn't mind seeing the Habs re-sign all of our most important UFAs, Lang, Koivu, Kovy, Tangs, Komi and Schneids. Give them another go at it. It can't be worst than this season, and Lang probably won't get another freak injury. If he played well at 38, I don't see how he won't play well at 39. Although, here's hoping his injury won't have any repurcussions, but to consider he was on skates 10 weeks after surgery, he's probably OK. He also said that he would absolutely come back with the Habs. And the beauty of this is that he probably won't cost much, put bonuses for the number of games played and points he gets.

Heres some food for thought lol.

Say hypothetically speaking...

Habs Land Barker, Kessel, via RFA, Cammalleri via UFA, and Wolski via trade. Then we re-sign Koivu, Kovalev and Tanguay. And If we have space we sign Gaborik.

There, have at it.

He better sign his own RFAs first, and watch out when it comes time to re-sign AKost and Price as RFAs.

RFA offer sheets are a two-way street. There is still the unwritten law. If you do it, be sure others will try it soon enough on you. Wait till Gagner becomes a RFA. He'll probably get an offer sheet and go out of Edmonton.

This is exactly the type of delusions fans bite on. Nice one dude.

The worst part is that it took up the 6 pages of the JdeM....

All this for this useless tripe.

Let me sum it up.

French = good
other = bad

The fact that folks would sign Dandenault more than Koivu says it all.

Dandenault.... I mean, not that we need to resign him but, Lapierre I wold understand the love, but Dandenault....

Montreal fans seem to deserve the worse team in the league.

The whole surey there is a joke, from a methodological point of view. Internet survey....oh really ?

Note how RDS says it:

"Ce sondage éclair a été réalisé dans l'Internet le 23 avril pour le `Journal de Montréal' auprès de 547 Québécois. Sa marge d'erreur est de plus ou moins 4,2 pour cent, 19 fois sur 20."

So RDS says the survey has an error margin of 4.2%

While the original says here

http://www.canoe.qc.ca/sports/nouvel...28-053400.html

"Un échantillon probabiliste aléatoire de cette taille comporterait une marge d'erreur maximale de ± 4,2%, 19 fois sur 20. Les données finales ont été pondérées selon le sexe, l'âge, la langue maternelle et la région, de façon à être représentatives de la population du Québec, selon les dernières données de Statistique Canada."

So - a randomised probabilistic sample of this size would have an error margin of 4.2%....

Problem is - this is not remotely a randomised probabilistic sample! No specialist would even dare estimating the error margin of an "flash Internet survey".

It's like saying "We built this house out of cardboard. However we know that had we built it with real bricks, it would last at least 40 years."

Totally unprofessional on all sides.

Did anyone say we should get all of them, or is this your interpetation? And if we could sign only one, are you saying that you want none of these players ?

No. I know this is a delusion, my proposal was more or less a pipe dream. I know it wont happen, i was simply giving something for the other fans to "Hope" for. I don't like going after RFAs for the reason you mentioned, it becomes a vindictive bidding war down the stretch and it can really **** you over. Thats why Gainey isn't a fan of RFAs.
