You want to pay Ryan Clowe $4.5 million a season over the next five years?

The 22 year old defenseman that just put up 36 points this season despite being buried behind Dan Boyle and Rob Blake on the powerplay.

Do you seriously think "he could be had?" The Sharks, disappointed from another weak play off aren't gonna lash out out their veterans that played crappy, instead they're gonna trade off a 22 year old blueliner who had a great year?

I'm not sure you really get how this all works.

I would definately trade for Ryane Clowe and I think he can be had for some of our assets, but the offer sheet idea is a bad one IMO

I have no problem with offer sheets but Clowe is not worth it.

offer sheets cost too much, you have to overpay for the player and you loose a lot of draft pick.

Your draft picks do not mean much if you have a poor drafting record.

....and this applies to the Habs how? Check out draft picks in first second and third rounds the last four years (not counting 2008) and you will find players each year that have already contributed in the NHL in some way. That's not poor drafting.

Try again.

Other than Price and Andrei K., who has contributed significantly (I am even generous for those two) at the NHL level? I do not care about potential, I only care about real results.

Yes yes if you have a high draft pick, like in the case of Price thanks to the lottery, it is worth keeping them but since Habs have a habit of drafting mid pack with little results they are not worth too much unless you are looking to fill your team with 3rd-tier and 2nd-tier players.

I think a lot of you people are talking without knowing the West.
Ryan Clowe is not event close to being a Dustin Penner.
Penner is lazy and doesn't use his body.
Clowe is using his body every game...will drop the glove if you need too and will go in front of the net anythime.

They are not event close to being the same...

Yeah! He would be a great fit in Mtl since he had problem with the law (DUI last year), he would be awesome with the Kost !

Way to go Hab fan, we are definitely better than Gainey!!
