Habs should go after Evgeni Malkin

So I was looking at our roster yesterday and I noticed we are terribly lacking star power. I also noticed we don't have depth at center and that winning teams usually have an incredible first line center. That's when I realized, how can Pittsburgh possibly keep both Crosby and Malkin ? Based on this new hypothesis, I thought that the Habs should go after Evgeni Malkin. We could also ship the Kostitsyn Brothers, maybe Plekanec and some prospects. I see no reason why we shouldn't:

1) He's very good !
2) We need centers
3) He's Russian and we could have a Kostitsyn - Malkin - Kovalev line
4) He's young

Only disadvantage I see is that he's a left-handed shot, but I think we could find a way to find another right-handed center in the future. So, what do you guys think ? Should Bob possibly think going after Malkin? I think he can help us...

I'd rather Lecavalier. He's a way better player...

Pittsburgh isn't a stupid team, they won't give either of them up unless they're on the verge of bankruptcy. Even if the cap goes down next year, that doesn't necessarily mean in 5 years the cap won't be above what it is now. I'm certain pittsburgh will be willing to risk having a mediocre team for a couple of years to retain crosby/malkin under long term contracts in order to ensure that if and when the cap does go back up they can have one of the better teams in the NHL.

Why would they trade Malkin anyways?

Lecavalier is way better than Malkin but Geno is younger, he might become just as good as Vinny and maybe even Daniel Briere in a couple of years.

Yeah, but they have no depth because of the money locked on their top talents. Keeping only one and giving him a support cast with quality wingers like the Kostitsyn brothers might help them out a lot more.

whoa...you can't compare geno to Danny B yet, Danny B is a great player, Geno shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Danny B, Maybe Pierre Marc Bouchard, but not Danny B
