Brashear was suspended one game for initiating contact with Rangers forward Colton Orr during the pre-game warm-up. Brashear was suspended for five additional games for a blind-side hit on New York forward Blair Betts at 9:54 of the first period.
The NHL's Competition Committee was apparently one vote away “in the last year or so” from recommending a change in Stanley Cup play. This change would have had the teams go to four-on-four hockey after the first overtime period.
In fact, the proposal, which McKenzie said was strongly supported by Brendan Shanahan, got a majority of the votes in the committee but needed more than a majority to pass and fell one vote short of the number needed to come out of the committee.
Yotes file for chapter 11 bankruptcy, Balsille offers $212.5 million to buy them.
If the sale goes through and Balsille finally gets a team to move to the Buffalo/Toronto area, the Phoenix/Hamilton Dawgs couldn't stay in the Pacific. It would make sense to move the team to the Eastern Conference, but it would be mostly impractical to move an Eastern team to the Western.
I wonder how this will unfold--complete realignment or shuffle a few teams? Add a team in Vegas to fill the hole in the Pacific and another in Kansas City to keep the conferences even if the Yotes go to the East?
