Hockey is a better game when played on ice rather than a field.

But on MacT, it's a bit of a surprise if only because a couple of weeks ago the owner indicated there wouldn't be a change.

Brashear gets a 6 game suspension.

Quote:
Brashear was suspended one game for initiating contact with Rangers forward Colton Orr during the pre-game warm-up. Brashear was suspended for five additional games for a blind-side hit on New York forward Blair Betts at 9:54 of the first period.

NHL helpin out the Yotes again.

Quote:
PHOENIX - The National Hockey League has loaned an unknown amount of money to the Phoenix Coyotes for payroll and rent payments.

The Arizona Republic online edition reported if the team fails to pay its debt, the league can take it over, according to financial records filed with Maricopa County Recorder's Office.

They just need to trade Shane Doan here so he can play with Morrow and be done with it.

The NHL's Competition Committee was apparently one vote away “in the last year or so” from recommending a change in Stanley Cup play. This change would have had the teams go to four-on-four hockey after the first overtime period.

In fact, the proposal, which McKenzie said was strongly supported by Brendan Shanahan, got a majority of the votes in the committee but needed more than a majority to pass and fell one vote short of the number needed to come out of the committee.

Only a matter of time before Ontario gets a 3rd team. Only a matter of time.

Sucks for the Coyotes fan base, sure, and I'll bet tickets for this new team will end up costing me more than the already-overpriced Leafs tickets do.

Someone said that the Hamilton Bulldogs averaged about 4600 per game during the regular season and San Antonio averaged 5,000.

If the sale goes through and Balsille finally gets a team to move to the Buffalo/Toronto area, the Phoenix/Hamilton Dawgs couldn't stay in the Pacific. It would make sense to move the team to the Eastern Conference, but it would be mostly impractical to move an Eastern team to the Western.

I wonder how this will unfold--complete realignment or shuffle a few teams? Add a team in Vegas to fill the hole in the Pacific and another in Kansas City to keep the conferences even if the Yotes go to the East?

Barring expansion in this economic climate, the quickest fix would just be to move Atlanta to the West and abolish the divisional format.

The Toronto Marlies averaged somewhere around 3,700 fans per game, and they were down the street from the Leafs, who've sold out basically every game forever, lol.
