Um... What?
Might want for him to play in the NHL, much less dominate in the NHL before saying something like that...
Just because a guy is 6-6 doesn't mean he's going to be Chara, much less better then a back-to-back Norris finalist.
He's 6'8'', is still growing, and is an unbelieveable skater for his size.
Defensively he's phenomenal and many have said that all things considered he's betetr than Chara when he was 19.
Soooo it's not out of the realm of possiblity that he will be better than big Z. Chara's great, but if Myers' offensive game translates to the bigs, LOOK OUT

1. He is 6'6" according to all sites I have seen and 6'7" on the Sabres website (which is obviously going to be on the high side).
2. Only on HF is a 19 year old, who has YET to play a game in the NHL and is playing in the WHL, going to be better than one of the best if not the best defensemen in the NHL.

HF lol
Kids grow you know. And yea, people who watch him in Kelowna have said that he has gotten bigger so yea...

No, it's not out of the realm of possibilities, but nothing really is. Myers is a nice prospect, but he was only a 1st round pick due to his size, there have been many more 1st round defensemen busts then booms.
We are talking about a back-to-back Norris finalist, one of the 2 best defensemen in the game today. A future Hall of Famer.
There have been more "big" defensemen prospects that have failed then succeeded. Chara is the bench mark, to even say Myers will (or could) end up better then him is crazy talk. I could fly to the moon, and IMO, that's more likely. I'm at least an engineering working in the aerospace industry. Chances of me going to the moon? Almost none.
He's a top-2 defenseman in the NHL, some can and will make the case he's better then Lidstrom at this point in their careers. Chara is 7 years younger then Lidstrom and while Chara has improved from last year, Lidstrom has lost a step.
The "top NHL defenseman" torch is being passed this season or next from Lidstrom to Chara.
i dont know why the sharks would trade thornton. they arent going to get overpayment for him. keep him and try to add a few more pieces. in the salary cap era anything can happen in the playoffs because teams are actually somewhat even. they lost to the ducks but the ducks were coming into the playoffs playing the best or close to the best hockey in the NHL. i think everyone on here is seriously underrating thornton....
the last time Thornton was traded he was a 26 year old, 100 pt center who choked in the playoffs. Now he's a 30 year old, 100 pt center, who chokes in the playoffs....
When and how did his trade value increase immensely from 3 solid NHLers to elite prospects and picks.
What a joke this thread is...
my offer from the Sabres would be...
Derek Roy, Jochen Hecht, Henrik Tallinder
Sharks get a young, pt per game center, signed to an amazing contract for another 4 seasons. a veteran 2 way winger, and a veteran 2nd pairing defensemen.

IMO, you have the right idea. Roy has-to (IMO) go the other way in a Thornton trade. I don't know much about Hecht or Tallinder but IMO, the last 2 parts should be vets in the same mold as Wayne Primeau and Aaron Ward. Not throw-ins, but not exactly valuable.
Why in the world would a town like Buffalo that has an undeniable history of being able to cement a championship bring in a player like Joe Thornton who has the same exact discredit to his name? That would be a PR nightmare.
