Dittos. It would have made quite a difference this year if they had had a faceoff specialist.

We brought in a PP Specialist 2 years ago (Briere) and people still ***** about him. Might as well bring in a PK Specialist so people can ***** about him too.

I would be interested in bringing in Zigomanis if he would be cheap for the 4th line. Great on faceoffs and can PK.

We could bring in Ovechkin, and people would ***** about him over cheering his goals.

People will ***** about anyone.

because two to three mil for a pk specialist is a nice luxury 6.5 for a pp specilist is just bad asset management. briere is a tremendous player and an asset to any team hes on but hes not necessary on a team with a selke finalist and the number two goalscorer. as far as im concerned the secondary scoring role is pretty much girouxs what we are looking for right now is a fourth line vet who could move up in a pinch or maybe a 3rd liner a lil past his prime. i think you also try and add a little size. we might be looking at two players and not just one. names that i like are chris gratton wayne primeau and possibly mike peca

I'd like one of these guys. Betts is a beast at PK'ing, despite his FO %. Would come cheap if the Rangers don't have room.

If you want faceoffs, i think Malholtra would be a great addition. Always liked him. Someone like Moen or Betts would be ideal but i don't see them making it to UFA, or cheaply enough for our situation

whoever they get has to be able to win F/Os if nothing else.
in order #1 - F/O specialist #2 - cheap salary #3 - strong PK #4 - Big centerman

maholtra would be ideal but would he take 4th line minutes and pay?

aren't wayne primeau and craig conroy UFAs? how good are their F/O #s?

moen would be an awesome pick up for the 3rd line.

would you trade lupul for stoll? he is decent defensively and strong on F/Os.

briere - richards - hartnell
gagne - carter - giroux
moen - stoll - powe
carcillo - primeau - asham

I've been thinking of something similar to your lines. I think it's time we have a traditional checking 3rd line. It would be cheaper than us continuing to have 3 scoring lines (which I love...but it's just expensive).

This is what I'd try to do.

1) Move Lupul for some combination of a goalie, d-man, or picks.
2) Bring in a 3rd line center that can a)win faceoffs b)play great defense c)has size and hits. Some names I liked were Malhotra/
3) Resign Knuble if it is a fair price and play him on the 3rd line. He is defensively responsible and pretty big. He can also continue having his PP time.
4) Bring in a winger for the 3rd line that also has size and plays good D. A name that caught my eye was Mike Greir. Good locker room guy with size.

Lines could be something like:

Gagne-Richards-Briere
Hartnell-Carter-Giroux
?Greir?-?Malhotra?-Knuble
Asham-Powe-Carcillo

P.J. Axelsson (LW) - $1.85m
Samuel Pahlsson (C) - $1.4m
Manny Malhotra (C) - $1.2m
Vernon Fiddler (C/LW) - $850k
Scott Nichol (C) - $750k
Travis Moan (LW) - $925k
Mike Grier (RW) - $1.775m

Pahlsson & Grier are my picks

I'm all about Pahlsson and Moen.

I can see Holmgren going after a guy like Moen after hearing how he wanted to add size to our forwards.

I just want to see Carter off of the PK. His defensive play is not what it's made out to be, and he needs to be on the ice for even strength/PP.

Any specialist who takes care of that is fine by me. We may have too many natural centers, but someone who wins draws would be good too.

Ok I'm 100% sold on Pahlsson now. He just won 2 draws in a row in the offensive zone, with under a minute left, and the goalie pulled. We could use that.

Some SJ fans a speak with say grier has really gotten long in the tooth and has zero offensive ability left.
i like knuble but would like to replace him w/ a more physical winger (moen/clowe)...watching the hawks games and you see the difference between a 225lb (eager/brouwer/bufuglien) guy pounding a teams d shift after shift...knuble doesn't bring that and asham and carcillo are tough but only go about 205.

He was injured for most of the season; I think he only played a handful of games.

It's also quite likely he'll pack it in. He just happens to be in a contract year.
