Oilers would jump at that deal and Boston fans would burn their arena down in protest
Wheeler stats were better then Hemsky's last year and he is 3 years younger and the same goes for Krejci. Kessel is an all around better player and a better goal scorer. I think oilers would need to add something to get any of those players for Hemsky.
Try reading the WHOLE post, those were players that could be used in a package. Not nessesarily all of them.
If you think all of those players are of Hemskys value I don't think you have anything worthwhile left to add.

Hemsky this year: 23g 43a. 66 pts
Krejci: 22g 51a 73 pts 3 years younger than Hemsky
Kessel: 36g 24a 60 pts 4 years younger than Hemsky
Wheeler: 21g 24a 45 pts 3 years younger than Hemsky
Lucic: 17g 25a 42 pts 5 years younger than Hemsky
Ok this might be a down year for Hemsky, but he has been pretty consistently a low 20s goal scorer and a high 40s low 50s assist guy.
Krejci is a similar player and younger and dealing him for Hemsky would be a lateral move so Boston has no reason to do this.
Kessel is clearly a better goal scorer than Hemsky and given that we have Savard (a better playmaker) and Krejci (an equal playmaker) there is no point in trading him for a playmaker in Hemsky.
Wheeler had a good rookie year, but yeah Hemsky is a better player right now and maybe in the future. I don't see the Oilers dealing Hemsky for Wheeler straight up but I don't think Boston would want to add too much AND Edmonton would still have to take back salary.
Lucic isn't as good a player as Hemsky but again, we have several good playmakers and trading a physical presence for another playmaker wouldn't make sense.
Hey, if we're moving Hemsky I want to get to package him and upgrade... but if Boston has a Thornton moment and offers Lucic, Kessel, Krejci and Wheeler I'm in .
For obvious reasons Milan Lucic won't leave Boston, likely ever.
As for the others, Hemsky is worth more than any of them. If Boston wouldn't offer any of those guy's on that list Hemsky wouldn't be going to Boston.
Hemsky's contract is what makes him such an attractive commodity. 3 more years at $4.1mil is an absolute steal for a PPG 1st line player.
are you insane? Hemsky has scored more than 20 goals once in his career and has never had even one season as a point per game player, over his career hes at 0.80. The only one you could reasonably get is Wheeler but Hemsky costs a lot more .
People seem to forget Hemmers plays for Edmonton, & plays in the West.
All those durastically IMO hinder his offensive numbers.
As for Wheeler, Krecji being better than Hemsky, I lol'd hard. They are fine players, but not Hemmers.
you must have laughed yourself senseless because in his first full year Krejci outscored every single season Hemsky has had, and that says nothing about the nearly 40 goal difference in +/-, and 20 % better shooting percentage.
you sure you were just laughing or were you sniffing glue, until you were deluded?

So what your comparing one year where Hemsky was playing on a terrible team with no help and Bostons rookies were having breakout years and inflating their stats against basement dwellers?
Watch a couple games and then we can talk, stats like that are meaningless.
Being realistic the Kreici and Kessel are probably similar value to Hemsky because they are RFA and could be very expensive. Hemsky has a very attractive cap hit and has a higher top end than either of those 2 players if he can ever find it. There is no way you could get either of these 2 players and something else for Hemsky let alone Lucic and Wheeler.
I know everyone here poo-poo's "what-if" scenarios and unproven estimations, but.... What sort of points do you think Hemsky would put up if he were on Boston in place of a Wheeler or a Krejci or one of these guys?
Does anyone REALLY believe that Hemsky wouldn't have significantly improved numbers if he were playing on Boston instead of Edmonton this year? Just curious.
This giving the Oilers a good young center to play with the young talent in Edmonton. For the Pens side of the trade, asuming the rumor is true that Jagr wants to play with Hemsky, the pens first line could be Hemsky Crosby Jagr, that could be fun to watch. Also putting Kunitz with Malkin and either Sykora if resigned, Kennedy or an FA. Not sure if the value is there or do the pens need to add more or visa-versa.
Actually that isn't that bad of a deal...We unload 2 bad contracts in Smith and Kelly, gain a 2nd, a solid defense prospect, a possible 2nd line center, and Hemsky. Not unreasonable.
