The Krauts are fortunate to have the 2010 tournament in Germany and automatically qualify as the host.
Losses to France, Denmark, Switzerland, ... not exactly a good showing by the squad coached by former Stanley-Cup-clinching-goal-scorer Uwe Krupp.
It seems German hockey is being pushed further and further down the rankings by other teams emerging with better national programs. Well done and hats off to the Danes. The Germans desperately need their strongest players (Hecht, Schubert, Ehrhoff, Goc, Sturm, Greiss, etc.) to play for the national team to have any chance at advancing to the quarter finals.
Young talent like Sulzer, Braun, Schutz and Pielmeier, for example, are like a dim light at the end of the tunnel... but the current tournament performance is yet another major disappointment for German hockey.
