Edmonton wants another pick in the top 15

If Edmonton was looking for another pick in the top 15; that means keeping our 10th pick; what would other teams want from us for their pick.

I'm really hoping Dallas hangs on to the 8th pick, as it would be our first top-15 draft pick in about 14 years.

But it really wouldn't surprise me if we traded down.

What would Edmonton offer for the 8th pick?

edmonton would be better off trading their picks for players that can help now. They are dreadful at the table.

Gilbert is a very good puck moving dman that had 40 points this year not playing on the first unit of the power play most of the time. He is also defensively reliable as this is only his 2nd year in the NHL and is still improving. He is also signed long term which for a dman is nice to have at only 4mil. It might also take your 2nd rounder for him

I think it would be either the 13th pick OR Stafford. Not both for Gilbert +. There just isnt anything else that EDM has that would make sense financially and value wise. I mean maybe 13th and Stafford for Gilbert and O'Sullivan but why swap young Top 6'ers in the first place?

13th, decent prospect is what I could see getting it done perhaps

If it was a prospect, it better be someone good. A 2nd would absolutely not do it, we're not giving up on Stafford here.

Again no. Sabres are stocked with D prospects and like I said in my last post, it wouldnt be Stafford AND the 13th for Gilbert +. It would be Stafford+ or 13th + for Gilbert.

Not sure if you are suggesting it... but I think the Oil would go for something like Stafford + 13th for Gilbert + OSullivan. The point of switching top 6'ers would be to sell some offensive talent (OSullivan) in exchange for some more grit (Stafford)

Yea it might work, my arm chair GM'ing would probably pull the trigger but I was just thinking in Regiermode

Do you think O'Sullivan will bounce back next year? How is he defensively? work ethic/attitude/grit? I'm interested to learn more about him, I know just a couple of seasons ago he was considered to be pretty decent stuff correct?

You have to be a really soft team for Stafford to be providing grit. Of course, the Sabres are such a soft team

This thread is about the pick, but I really like the simplicity of Gilbert for Stafford.

It fills needs for both teams and gives the oil a top 6 forward with some size. The sabres get an gifted offensive d-man. Similar to the Wideman/Boyes deal.
