Watching him play with Spezza and Heatley at the Worlds with Team Canada build good momentum. If he was with Ottawa, it would solve our secondary scoring problem. Because then Alfredsson could play on the second line, unless you want to keep our trio together
So you want a team that is thin at center to trade their best center?... Buffalo is looking to add another top-6 center, not lose their only top-6 center.

Well ofcourse they'd get something in return, I never said we'd take him for free...Trade wise here..

You missed the point....
Buffalo is in no position to move Roy, in an ideal world they would add another top-6 center. If they trade Roy, they now have a HUGE hole at their top-2 center positions.
Unless Spezza is going the other way, I don't think Ottawa is getting him.

Yea,
Given our center depth and the sheer awesomeness of Roy's contract, it would have to be a silly, silly overpayment from Ottawa to even get us listening.
I think people are overating Roy as a player here....Fisher, Karlsson and + ?? Are you ****ing kidding me?
Yeah, but that's typical on this board. As soon as you put up a thread from your teams' POV, your team will be the one undervalued throughout the thread... we just need to to wait until Buffalo fans start up a Roy-for-trade thread and then we can offer Schubert, Daigle and a single piece of gum chewed by both Hillary Duff and Carrie Underwood and it will seem fair in that thread.
In reality though, we have nothing to offer to make this move that wouldn't hurt us more than the trade is worth... and our division rivals probably aren't going to give us a good contract for nothing.

in reality its underating. Ottawa cannot get Roy unless they offer Spezza. End of story. Cry overrated all you want. pt per game, 3.5 million dollar, signed 4 more years, 26 yrs old, division rival....
no point to this thread. neither teams fans will EVER agree on value on this one...

You mean the guy that is averaging 30 goals, 75.5 points in 80 games the past 2 seasons? You can count on 2 hands, how many centers put up those kinds of numbers this past year. He's also signed until 2013 at $4.0 million. A deal!
For a team (Buffalo) dealing from a position of extreme weakness, it would take an over payment to get him.

I didnt ask you for stats, contract or the past season stuff...
i simply asked what would it take to get him, player/picks/pospect (trading wise)
sheesh

Ottawa doesn't have enough to get Roy. Buffalo wouldn't take on any of the big contracts Ottawa has (no Spezza, no Heatley) - obviously Alfie isn't going anywhere...there's barely any value on the rest of the roster or in the prospect pool to get Buffalo to listen.

the only funny thing is that you can't comprehend that that's what it would take. You're blinded by your own needs that you can't even handle the concept that a trade is a 2 way street. You think you can bundle up some of your excess to get exactly what you need. Jokes on you.

No you didn't, but you also don't understand what he's worth if you're offering picks/prospects. I thought showing you his numbers and his contract would help... I guess I was wrong.
the only way i see roy coming home is if spezza is going the other way.
Buffalo fans are right on the mark here, the original poster had no clue of what the Sabres needed, it would be like a Sabres fan wondering what it would take to get Spezza and saying Roy is off limits, and trying to build a proposal around Connolly.
The original poster needed to consider the other teams needs as well as his own
yeah, but Sabres would have to add more to the deal, especially if they wanna even out the cap
i disagree, spezza's contract is a negative here,
Spezza for Roy straight up is pretty even, in fact an argument could be made that with Heater and Alfredson to finish for him he might outscore Spezza at considerably less cost. it might actually help the Senators be able to get Jbo

agreed. Ottawa would have to take another contract back in the deal (Hecht or Tallinder)
