The Hometown Trade proposal: Van - Montreal

To Van (all BC boys):
Gorges
Maxwell
O'Byrne
Price

To MTL (hometown)
Luongo

I remember hearing Price-Luongo trade talks with my friends which is a total no brainer for MTL straight up....but then I saw these 4 Montreal players listed as local BC boys they Nucks might trade for....and wondered whether or not a pure Hometown swap could be doable?

FLAME ON!!!!

I don't like to flame and the premise is cute but Luongo isn't getting run out of town Cheveldae-style. There would have to be good reason to trade him, and this isn't it.

No from Montreal, when Price will be at the same age as Luongo he will be just as good if not better, and i believe Ben Maxwell will be a star in this league. Hell NO !
For those that don't believe me go look at Luongo's stats when he was 21 who by the way is now 30. They are very similar.

Vancouver says no, Montreal says no.

Bad for both teams. Lock this before you get the huge flame fest.

Trading Luongo works out so well for GM's I wonder why they don't do it more often. I mean it is such a bright spot on Keenan and Milbury's records Gilles would be stupid not to make the trade.

I'll do Price for Schneider... doubt Hab fans want that.. but you're running Price out of town. Then flip Luongo to the Flyers for Carter, JVR and a 1st... k the 1st is pushing it. Draft Morin with Flyers pick, De Haan with ours and hopefully Ashton in the 2nd.. everyone will be happy Flyers get their goalie, Habs have a new young star goalie to destroy and Canucks **** them all.. will it happen no before I get jump for this I'm f***ing around.

Sorry, but there's no way that Montreal gives all that youth and talent in return for a goalie with one year left to his contract, no matter how good he might be. It would be franchise suicide.

I expect the one that holds the title of best goalie in the league to have won something at nearly 30 years old.

Why would Vancouver do this? Last time I checked they're still in the playoffs because of Luongo's strong goaltending.

This tells you all you need to know about the trade proposal, and the OP's own thoughts of the proposal.

Sorry mate, but Price takes "most of the talent" you are talking about (ie. I wouldn't call PickPocket O'Byrne and Maxwell great talents).
