Wait, is that what I think it is!?

Are two teams agreeing on a HF trade proposal!?

But seriously, I think Oil fans and Sabre fans can agree that Stafford and Gilbert is fair value wise and fills needs for both clubs

I would agree with that. It would be a fair deal for each team.

What would Edmonton offer for the 8th pick?
Depends who's available. Wouldn't surprise me if Edmonton was willing to give up Gilbert. If something Edmonton really likes is still available at #8 they might offer #10 + Cogliano.(1.33mill cap hit next year)

There is no way that we are going to give you the 10th and Cogs. No way at all

It's not likely to happen, but Cogs is heavily overrated. He's lacking in hockey sense/ hockey IQ. All he does is chase the puck like a moth chases light.

Playing at center he'll never be a 2nd liner. All coaches and scouts say he can't play the wing because he can't stop himself from wandering back to the center position when playing.

With Horcoff and Gagner in front of him and his horrible faceoff win % I don't see him going anywhere in Edmonton.

Cogs is only 21 years old and already has 2 18 goal season back to back. It is obviously going to take some time to get use to the wing. He has speed and goes in the corners. I would be more than happy to keep him with the Oilers. Even if he ends up being a 3rd liner he will get 20 goals on the third line and with his speed he is going to be a shut down penalty guy.

oh, you will personally give us those players, eh?

So, rockinghockey is Steve Tambellini's new handle?

Since I'm Garth Snow, I'll counter offer by sucking up Horcroff's ridiculous contract in exchange for your first rounder this year and next.

Can we throw in Penner?

Sure, as long as we can also have your first in 2011.

I could see Florida being interested in Cogliano. Although, their pick is 14th, so it's probably not so attractive.

Question is will the Isles have interest in moving a 2nd round pick? I think the Isles and Jackets make good possible partners depending on how the draft unfolds. If Anaheim takes out Detroit I believe Columbus moves up to the 15th spot. We have no 2nd round pick and in a deep draft I could see a move down.

I also wouldn't mind Gilbert from Edmonton. An earlier posted a suggestion fo somewhere in the 12-15 range as value. If that's accurate I would think Columbus would look at that very, very seriously.

.
Botta's a team sponsored blogger, with a lot of ties to the front office. He speculated last month about the team trying to trade up from 26th overall.

Then Brooks wrote that during Snow's discussion with Burke, the isle gm expressed interest in trading up from 26th.Isles have the 31st,37th and the Bruins late 2nd.
