I know many Leaf fans want to include these players in deals.
What is the actual value of these players seperately?
Would I be way off base saying:
Kaberle 4 a mid first and prospect or young player
Kubina 4 a late first and prospect
Stajan 4 a 2nd and 4th
Yeah... thats about right... I would actually say Stajans value could be a high 2nd like 35-45th Overall... If its Mid/Late, then a late round pick will be added in.
Kaberle would probably be more of a high end prospect (I hate to refer to Hockeysfuture rankings...but...) Probably a 8.0.
Meanwhile Kubina's prospect should be around 7.0 depending how late the 1st is.
Stajan isn't worth the ink needed to sign the papers to a trade. Joking aside, I think he's way overvalued in the Toronto market and would probably fetch a high 3rd rounder.
Kubina, can be realistically be traded for a high 2nd rounder in today's market.
Kaberle, can probably be had for 2 / 3 criterium that Burke originally proposed (1st rounder, young roster player, prospect).
A young defensively responsible forward with a 55 point season who is good on faceoffs is worth only a 3rd rounder. Really? He was a 2nd rounder himself, and if you re-did that draft he probably goes in the 1st round.
You can compare Stajan to RJ Umberger when he was dealt (at the same at, within a few goals and assists, eerily similar). However, you consider that RJ had a monster playoffs that year, and Stajan has yet to test the playoff waters, I'd say Stajan should be able to garner something around a very high 2nd, or really late 1st.

stajan is a pretty good defensive forward, and im pretty sure he had something like 40-50 points, so he prolly is worht that,
ps, im reading too kill a mocking bird for my gr.9 english class right now., hah

Don't let your grade 9 English teacher read that post.
If that's the best return Burke can get for these players then he won't trade them until the deadline and he'll probably hang on to Stajan due to his age.
Craig Rivet was traded last year for 2 2nd round picks. Kubina is a couple years younger and put up a few more points, but also comes 1.5M more expensive. I'd guess that return would be more accurate, although late 1st + 2nd wouldn't be shocking.
For Kaberle, the deal for Boyle might be a decent barometer as far as #1 D-men being traded last offseason (I don't consider McCabe to be a #1 D-man). I wouldn't think Kaberle would get as much as Boyle did (it was Boyle + Lukowich for Carle, Wishart, 1st, 4th). Boyle was also signed long-term, although Kaberle is cheaper. Kaberle for 1st + prospect sounds reasonable.
